A new track ?
Re: A new track ?
Just a few ribbons were needed. Now I'll improve other areas, like the grid and some textures.
I'm thinking about the next track. Maybe it will be a brazilian track, I don't know. Any sugestions?

It doesn't mind what you make, you need to like it!

TDK, can you explain me how to use correctly the commands 0x94 and 0x95? I see you always use them in your tracks.
I've finished my update for Autodromo Caccere. It still have bugs, but I'm very happy with it for now. Now it has a nice starting grid (I've changed the tarmac, it don't look as good as the old one, but a lot of people won't even notice the diference), better scenery (using long view distance commands), improved horizon (mixed from two versions of Imola horizon) and a lot of other minor changes. But maybe I have overused the far sight command, becouse the track slows down the game sometimes. I'm sending it to AAS now.
I was playing with command 0xdd in TE and I think I've discovered something that wasn't noticed yet:
Do you guys know that command 0xd2 is NOT related with 0xdd? 0xdd works this way. If you put it in a sector with no command after it, it terrible mess your track. If you put ANY command with 2 agruments after it (like 0xd2, but it could be any other, like 0xc0 ), the second argument will be the player grip. If that command has only 1 argument, player grip will be 0. If it has more than 2 arguments, it will hang up GP2.
I don't know if anybody has noticed that before, but I believe 0xd2 is in fact used to prevent scenery/objects from "bleeding" through other scenery/objects in your view when you drive through sectors which have "dummy" scenery arms (or bridged scenery, seems like this kind of command cause troubles in you view when close to the pits, 0xd2 always appears in a sector with "dummy arm" command). Thats why it always appears close to the pits. it works togheter with 0xd1. In fact, 0xd1 do the job (the argument sets the effect distance and 0xd2 gives some location codes to 0xd1. I believe this becouse 0xd1 can do the job alone in Adelaide, but in Suzuka, if you enable it (by changing it's argument), it's effect will change a lot if you change 0xd2 arguments. 0xdc does the same as 0xd1 and 0xd2 togheter in Spa.
You will only notice the Adelaide bug if you remove 0xd1 (or set it's argument to 0? I didn't test) and drive that area close to the left side of the track, then objects will bleed through the stands.
This "achievement" is not very useful, but maybe you have a problem of "bleeding objects" next to the pits and it may help. Could those commands work far from the pits also?
Re: A new track ?
Well, i always let them be! I never remove them when i use a original gp2 track as a base. I don't know why, but i always leave them alone.rremedio wrote:TDK, can you explain me how to use correctly the commands 0x94 and 0x95? I see you always use them in your tracks.
Something in the back of my mind says that they may have something to do with prevent fence and ribbons from flashing. I'm not sure, but i've never tested it though. Maybe it's an idea to find out what those do. They certainly NOT insert track bumps, or change track grip, or slide marks, as the description says.

Sort of. I use 0xdd in combination with 0xd2, because you than can control the players grip. But indeed it can with a other command.rremedio wrote:Do you guys know that command 0xd2 is NOT related with 0xdd?
Didn't noticed it in front view. But in rear view only more! I think the picture shows what you where saying: The stand 'bleeds' through the pitbuilding. But than it's very usefull!!! Thank you for finding it out! =D>rremedio wrote:You will only notice the Adelaide bug if you remove 0xd1 (or set it's argument to 0? From http://members.lycos.co.uk/robgp3/Gp3/ Part #10: Commands editingrremedio wrote: TDK, can you explain me how to use correctly the commands 0x94 and 0x95? I see you always use them in your tracks.
Code: Select all
0x94 cc cars coaching left
0x95 cc cars coaching right
a1= offset into sector
a2= values from 0 to 8
It seems a way to make the cc cars approach a turn in a more intelligent way to avoid abnormal accidents.
with a2=1 cars will make more attention than a2=8. The usage is related to the kind of turn/hairpin we want to affect. If the turn goes in the right we can place a 0x94 with a2=1 before the entrance, so the cc-cars will stay on the left aproaching the turn. If the turn is to the left we can add a 0x95 command before it.
You can affect the behavior of the cc-cars in corners.
In hairpins (and some other turns) without 0x94 or 0x95 they crash more frequently in your car.

Croft and Caccere updates are ready for download.
I hope you like the screenshots.
Do you know the cars?

We need more brazilian tracks.

Re: A new track ?
Yes, I think we have the largest gp2 community in the world. There are 20 to 40 drivers sending hotlaps every weekend to our two leagues in F1Mania forums, and other players and leagues outside our forum.
Great pics, AAS. Thank you very much!

ps.: GP2Cup season 2 just started. Deadline for the first race: january 19th.

Re: A new track ?
How come GP2 is so big in Brazil then? Are all F1-related products big over there because of the country's success in the sport?

Re: A new track ?
I last heard that they want to demolish the Jacarepagua (Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet) circuit for some Olympic park for use in 2016! That's bad
, it's a great circuit with lots of Formula 1 history...

Re: A new track ?
I've read that too. It's only if the bid goes through though isn't it? I remember it as the circuit where Mansell won his first race for Ferrari. Which was also the first win for a car with a semi-automatic gearbox, interestingly. Not that Mansell saw it coming: the gearbox was so unreliable in testing that he'd booked his flight home for about 3 o'clock - which was halfway through the race distance...

Re: A new track ?
In fact Jacarepagua as you know doesn't exist anymore. Part of the track was demolished to the Pan-American Games last year. There's just a short circuit now.
Rio's Major promissed to build a new circuit before shoot down the remaining track.
I don't believe him.
I think gp2 sucess here in Brazil is due to the work of the guy who keep the leagues alive all these years (guys like Leonardo Barbosa, Otavio Silveira and Carlos Trindade), cause all happens around the leagues. And of corse, there's also the work of the guys who created the leagues and made they really big in the past (Antonio Pessoa, Luciano Rocha and others).
And also, F1 was a mass sport in the Ayrton Senna era. Nowadays nobody cares anymore, but it was second in people hearts to soccer.

So nobody in your country really cares about Massa or Barrichello?rremedio wrote:And also, F1 was a mass sport in the Ayrton Senna era. Nowadays nobody cares anymore, but it was second in people hearts to soccer.
