Things have gone back to normal a bit after the strange results at New Zealand, and there is no repeat of Sanson's incredible pole position. That falls to Mannsperger once again. Interesting performances by Lavaggi in a stunning 4th place, Lewis Cool outqualifying team-mate Sanson, and Ariesta in a brilliant 8th place and outside bet for a podium finish. New team Yaesu Sport did an excellent job in qualifying, their drivers 17th and 20th.

News in Australia
SME have announced that not only Tim Peers of Great Britain, but also Rena Hayami the Japanese-American female driver will be under contract to the SME race team, due to both their incredible performances of late.

Kraft driver Leszek Leuenberger stated that he was very disappointed with the way things were going with the car, in a manner that certainly won't please the Kraft team boss.

Drivers that failed to get a drive this season are still not giving up on a drive for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, letting the grid know that they can still be winners. Mark Schllinger of Germany, is particularly shocked he didn't get a drive having won last year's Italian and Dutch Grands Prix.

Lavaggi nearly sprints to first, but has to fall in behind Mannsperger. Huckett smashes his nose cone on the back of Hayami's car and has to pit for a new one.

Lap 2:
Moreno is out with a blown engine, nudged by Leuenberger into a spin at the Dipper and out of the race. Okazaki spins out of 4th place!!!!

Lap 7:
OKAZAKI ISN'T GIVING UP!!! Incredible!!! He refuses to get out!!!

Lap 10:
WHAT A HERO!! OKAZAKI has lost 4 laps but he rejoins!! He knows that reliability issues with the other cars could give him some points!! The crowd roars, and Okazaki is back in the race!!!

Lap 32:
Alingas sets fastest lap. He's trying to snatch the lead in clean air!! Toccacello, Pafvelsson, vd Woldenberg, Kamannen, Peers & Huckett all pit. Peers has a broken front wing. Makki-Ohlson passes Cool.

Lap 33:
Rugen, Makki-Ohlson, Cool & Snel all pit.

Lap 62:
Rugen, Weidlinger, Makki-Ohlson, Lahikkanen, & Leuenberger all pit. Rugen beats Toccacello out for 2nd. Alingas isa 29 seconds ahead now. Is that enough?
