Starting again from stratch I have now the base for a generic shape and two liveries almost done (Mclaren and Lotus). As each car is so diferent from the others I'm letting some room for changes and improvements as I do the liveries, I'm not going too deep on details.. Also, I didn't work in the second shape yet.

The first shape will cover the majority of the grid (Mclaren, Lotus, Hesketh, Shadow, Wolf, Penske, Renault and others). The second shape will be intented for Marchs and Tyrrell. I'm not sure about the Brabham. And have no idea about what to do with Ferrari and Ligier.

Yes, these were the times when the cars looked very different.

I think Ferrari & Ligier could use the same shape like McLaren. The middle part of the frontwings would be in aluminium colours like the front wing and then it would propably look quite okay.

And the Brabham, well I think the March shape fits really good.

I guess I'll use your opinion as a starting point.

Nice pictures in your signature. From what game are they? Did you use a Mclaren shape?

Cool! I wrote my opinion because I sometimes had the same problem. In reality there were some quite different looking shapes and I was limited to the two in GP2 possible shapes. That is sometimes very annoying and I thought it would be helpful to have a second opinion.

  =D> :-"

The game is called 'Grand Prix 2' (when they are that small you don't recognize it at the first view). The carshape is DJS' 2007 shape. These are the screenshots I sent to AAS (in larger resolution of course) for the fans-carset gallery at Grandprix2.de.

Now trying to make the Shadow. A lot harder than Lotus and Mclaren.

Shadow almost done, Wolf done.

And a new special add-on for my carset: a new ccline for 70ies Interlagos. It's not perfect, as always, but ccs are 2,3sec faster with James Buster's '77 carset now.

When the set is ready I'll install it and play a season, that's for sure! Looks marvellous!

Your working speed is impressive.

There is one little thing: (I don't know anything about carshaping ) Is there a value for the shadows in the shape? If you compare the parts where you used the "top of the sidebox", you see that there is no shadow... :|

It's a side effect from the mapping changes. The shadow configuration is somewhere else in gp2.exe, but not in the carshape.

By my knowledge about tracks and shapes, I believe this info is stored together with the "parts division" of the bitmap. I someone could find it, we would do marvelous things in gp2...

Thanks!!

The work is fast becouse James Buster's '77 carset is a great base to work in. In most cars I just need to change the position of the logos.

Maybe ask AAS. I kow that on his Brno and Oscherleben tracks the configuration is somehow different. There the sides of the car reflect more and also the back of the car is reflecting.
