2019 Track Updates

Post by rremedio »

I'm updating some of the tracks to better fit my 2019 season. This is not a track pack or an extensive update to all tracks. The main focus is to improve cclines but for a few tracks I may also update layouts and/or adverts but it depends on how easy it will be to make those changes and how much I want them. I'm also creating the basic tracks for the three missing circuits, but don't expect anything fancy.

This is what I got ready so far:

Melbourne Download
New layout + ccline + small adverts update

Sakhir Download
New ccline + small adverts update

Baku Download
Basic new track

Barcelona Download
New layout + ccline + small adverts update

Red Bull Ring Download
Basic new track

Silverstone Download
Graphical update by Antonio Pessoa =D>

Sochi Download
Basic new track

Hungaroring Download
ccline update

Spa Download
Graphics and layout updated by Antonio Pessoa. Small ccline update

Montreal Download
Great graphical update by Antonio Pessoa.

Monza Download
Improved track widths and ccline. Graphical update.

Next in line (hopefully ready in a few weeks):
Suzuka require updated track layout and ccline.
Interlagos - totally new track with better layout (still a long way to go).
Mexico City will be made later

Full calendar:
1 - Melbourne - updated
2 - Bahrain - updated
3 - Shanghai - a great version already existed
4 - Baku - new base track done
5 - Barcelona - updated
6 - Monaco - I won't be touching this thing lol...there are many versions around, I will choose one of them
7 - Montreal - updated by Antonio.
8 - Paul Ricard - recent track, Antonio made a great graphical update
9 - Red Bull Ring - new layout/ccline done - graphical update in progress
10 - Silverstone - recent track, Antonio made a great graphical update
11 - Hockenheim - the track that exists is already very good, I may do a ccline update if it proves necessary.
12 - Hungaroring - updated ccline, that's enough for me lol - still needs small fix on pits
13 - Spa - recent track, and it is even getting some improvements from Antonio
]14 - Monza - updated
15 - Singapore - a great version already existed
16 - Sochi - new base track done
17 - Suzuka - needs new layout/ccline and some graphics
18 - Mexico City - new track, needs ccline update and some graphics
19 - Austin - recent track
20 - Interlagos - new track wip
21 - Abu Dhabi - a great version already existed

During these next weeks (or maybe two months) of quarantine/isolation period at home for almost everybody in Brazil, I'll get some time to deal with Silverstone, probably attempting to improve the scenery.

That would be epic!

Last weekend I worked on both the Baku and Barcelona tracks.

I changed my mind about Barcelona, there were so many things I wanted to change in the track layout that I decided to build a new one. I like the new one very much, but height changes are far from perfect and the ccline could be more aggressive, but I don't think it is worth spending too much time on that. I made a small graphical update and I just need to fix the pitlane heights and plant some trees and it will be ready.

I'm in the process of filling Baku with buildings. These are not attempts to get realistic looking buildings compared to the real-life ones. I'm just adding buildings that were already in the base track (Marrakech, by TK) and a few others. Then I must add other objects like trees and cranes and some textures that are missing (almost all textures are already in the track).

Here some photos of what I have done so far:

Baku should be available soon, it is a matter of days at most. It is already in a much better shape than what I originally planned.

Sochi is still in early development, but since I won't lose as much time with graphics as I did with Baku, I hope it doesn't take too long.

Interlagos is very well advanced. But it requires a lot of details and bug fixing, and I hope to give it a decent scenery, so it will probably take a while til the final version.

Baku is ready for download (in the first post or here). It doesn't have realistic scenery, but it is a nice base for the future, in case someone ever wants to add a realistic scenery.

I've added a magic data file for original style gp2 750-800bhp, default car weight and grips, etc). For my 2019 package, the magic data will be completely different.

I hope you guys enjoy it.

Next up: probably finishing Barcelona.

Brillant job Roberto! =D> =D> It is a very great news to have any modern tracks in GP2.
Currently, I'm making a new version of Estoril (1984-1993 layout)
I'm astonished as you and Antonio manage your track so fastly with an excellent result. Congratulations!

Thanks, Michael! Except for Baku, I tried to use as much of the already existing GP2 tracks I could so it didn't take much time.

Estoril is great news! The pre-94 layout is the best one and it will be a great addition to GP2. Keep up the great work!

My Sochi track is almost ready. It is just a base track with a few graphics so it doesn't feel too detached from the real thing. It drives very well and it doesn't look terrible. It should be available tonight or tomorrow. After that, I want to update Zeltweg and Suzuka. Not sure which one will come first. Or maybe update the cclines for Monza and Hungaroring, which should be very easy and fast.
