1990 end of the season
The final few races of the season saw a resurgence in form compared to the belgian and italian races. However, more disaster in the form of either accidents or mechanical failures struck.
In Portugal de Vinuesa had enough speed to run in the top 10, but an early spin and a later incident with Gugelmin (again) plus some problems meant a 14th place finish.

In Spain the qualifying was great at the home GP, but an overeagerness on first lap meant a spin. What followed was one of the greatest recovery drives of the season. More problems however and a tangle with Martin Donnelly, ensured the heartbreak for de Vinuesa.

Japan was no better when the engine seized after 20 laps. Mansell and Piquet had a tremendous accident which put Mansell out of the Australian Grand Prix and Nelson Piquet announced his inmediate retirement from F1 after having had also problems late in 1989. Moreno made his debut for Benetton as a one-off.

The Australian GP was the last chance of the season for De Vinuesa to shine. Qualifying a great 3rd place, De Vinuesa ran on or near the points for most of the race, and was running 6th when just two laps from the end an oil leak ended his race. Michael Andretti drove a one-off for Benetton with an incredible 2nd place!

1991 US & BRAZILIAN GP'S
USA
-----
A pretty decent start of the season for De Vinuesa, getting somewhat easily into main qualifying alongside the cars of Scuderia Italia and Jordan.
Qualifying went even better, with an impressive 3rd place!
In the race however it was obvious the Lambo is not at a top level, finishing 8th and with some brake problems in the middle. Still, an 8th place in between both Jordan cars is an impressive debut for the team.

BRAZIL
--------
An even more impressive qualifying with a first row result!
In the race, the faster cars passed quickly and kept the whole race fighting around points position although dropped due to a spin. However, with other cars having problems as well, I found myself in the final 15 laps holding the Benetton of Boutsen for 8th, then for 7th when Gachot retired and finally for 6th as De Cesaris needed a late pitstop! Had to hold both the Benetton and the Ferrari in the final few laps to score the first point ever for Lambo!
