Is it impossible to have a grip for each car in gp2?

I think, unfortunately, this is not simulated in a way that it would make sense -- or it's just inaccessible with conventional editing through the kinds of tools we have. Interesting to see that in GP4, it still seems to work pretty much the same way, with a track grip factor defined in the individual track's files, which are then offset by the driver grip, the randomisation of that -- and the cars just differ by horsepower and probability of reliability errors.

It's not entirely realistic, but you have to keep in mind that in the original game as it was released, every car was as good as the other on purpose. So what can be edited by now is a progress already.

In GP3 and GP4 you can use the Belini Grip Patch, so you can (using GPxPatch, the evolution of GP2Lap) change the default human grip (16384) for the CC grip of the selected car (if you choose Alonso and his grip is 16100, so will be yours).

These CC Grip values (or Performance values, as would be more correct to call them), are AI related values, not Physics Related values. Anyway, they seem to be compatible with the Human Grip, in scale.

Probably, we will never have this option for GP2.

In recent versions of the Grip Patch you may also edit the Human Grip directly, and store values for each track, and this we may (and probably will) have in GP2.

Thank you very much for yours answers!
AD It's true the progress since 1996 are already great. But.. perhaps one day we can reprogram a part of gp2 ...
rremedio Do you think this is the same for the weight of? Could we not set the weight of each car?

Yes, it's the same. All the cars use the same physics for everything but engine power. The GPX series foccus more on feeling and behavior than real life physics. That's why even the GP2 poor AI is better than some newer (and better) simulators like RFactor.
