Car painting

Post by Greyhead »

I'm figuring out a new technique for painting cars, I'll not go into the details at the moment as it's very long and boring, but basically it involves painting things in certain shapes, then reshaping them to fit the GP2 car bitmap. Anyone know of any good programs (preferably free) that will reshape images accurately (quadrilaterals mainly) that ISN'T Paint.NET? The quadrilateral reshape tool in that program is vague at best.

Well, there is THE GIMP. I've used it before I got in touch with Raint.NET. The GIMP is too much pro to me :D :D

Yeah I downloaded that a couple of weeks ago, but like you say, it's more for professional users. I couldn't get me head round it ](*,)

Okay, bt as far as I know ther isn't any 100% free tool.

Maybe you can describe your prob you have with Paint.NET. There may be a solution. I'm not using it for GP2-cars but for photo-touch-ups or creations like this

And they consist of many layers (This one of 48, I think)

The current version works fine to me so I don't get your prob ;-)

Nah it's still Paint.NET, but for the quadrilateral reshape tool, I've made a little overlay with the required points marked on it so I can just drag the shape to those points. Still not perfect but a damn sight better!
