RPM Limits

Post by Michael82 »

Hi,
I wonder if it is possible to find a solution to limit the number of rpm for gp2?

Yes it is. I've found it while trying to create a physics editor for GP2. My work is frozen for a while, but I can tell you how to do it. Just need a few days to get my physics sheet (I'm not at home right now).

It seems like I've lost my sheet in the last HD crash. Anyway, I have this old sheet which may help you to do some tests, it will change the RPM limits, but it won't change the RPM lights or the sound. The other sheet would change the RPM lights, but I still need to learn how to change the sound.

You need to put the sheet in the g2.exe folder. Open it, YOU NEED TO ENABLE MACROS OR IT WON'T WORK!!!! Go to Plan1, click on Importar and wait the confirmation. All you need is to change the values for cells B24 and B25.

B25 is the max rev value, but depending on the gear settings you will pass it until you reach B24 (rev limiter).

I'll try to rebuild my other sheet as soon as possible.

If anyone wants to try, there are other physic factors. Most are unknowns, B13, B14 and B18 are all famous, B7 and B8 work as expected, all the others are unknowns.

Download works now, i can open the file, but import or export doesn't work.... :( I got error messages in meaningless Dutch, so even more meaningless for you.

Maybe it's better to add this sheet to your Magic Value editor, or as a DOS patch?? O:)

It would be great if we can rev up Gp2. I know it can do 20.000 rpm, and even make high-rev sounds. So it would be great if we could run today's cars with 18.000 rpm in Gp2! :P

Did you enable macros? Is the sheet in the same folder than gp2?

I think of creating a physics editor for gp2, or add the physics editing to the magic data editor...but I can't work on in right now.

And I've lost the source code for the magic data editor, so I'll have to start from strach for next version.

I don't know, I must be Excel version problems...

@Michael: I can't do it now, I'll try tomorrow (as I said before, this sheet won't change rpm lights).

I wish I knew how for to the rpm lights. But the project of a Physics editor is a great idea. Maybe it will lead one day. It's already a great job.

This is a small program, better to use than the excell sheet. I changes the RPM lights. I hope it works. Maybe a better version will come out at the weekend.

Thank you for your program! I tried but there is an error with the GP2 path : GP2 unknown location.
Also, with the excel sheets I tried to lower values around 11000 rpm but maximum speed is 260 kph on a circuit like Monza, with 750 bhp. Is this normal? At the time of turbo in the 80's they were sometimes up to 340kph with 11500 rpm ...
