I was working on a new version of Outon Park from stratch (it would contain all the actual layouts). But I've lost the latest files on my last pc crash.

My pc is now working again and I may return to work on gp2 soon.

Just a quick note: I noticed that Will Hoy's qualifying grip in the 1992 carset is too high. It should be 16384, not 16484. Wondered why he always got pole!

Greyhead wrote: EDIT: I forgot to mention as well that most of the circuits that could do with tidying up seem to have fundamental problems with overtaking. ....... On most it's that if a car passes another, the car being passed loses a huge amount of time (anything up to two seconds on just that one corner).......
During a quick checkup I found some wrong placed commands in the Oulton Park v2.2 track.
There are 0x94/95 commands with values 1 or 2 on straights.

From Grandprix3 Trackediting Tutorial:

Code: Select all

It seems a way to make the cc cars approach a turn in a more intelligent way to avoid abnormal accidents.
with a2=1 cars will make more attention than a2=8.
From Grandprix3 Trackediting - Command Library:

Code: Select all

They seem to influence the cc-cars. When looking at the original tracks you notice the value for the outside of the corner is usually small (1 or 2), for the inside of the corner, the value is greater (4 or 8). So we could say the value is similar to the theoretical space between cc-line and border of the track. Or maybe better "the safe space" along the cc-line.

I made tests with the notorious first corner of Bern-Bremgarten, where normaly chaos happens after a start of a race. Maybe its a coincidence, but after setting both values to 1 before the corner the number of accidents decreased significantly
With a better placement of 0x94/95 commands the cc's should drive more "aggressive".

Interesting stuff Andreas. I think it's great that even in a game that's 13 years old, there is still stuff to discover about it.

I wonder when it will be available. Next one will be WTCC 2009 I guess.

But what about the GT-cars you mentioned once in this thread (I already asked for it two times, but never got a response ;-))???

Sorry FK :D
It was kind of just thinking aloud, I haven't actually got any firm plans for a GT set at the moment but I suspect that during the off-season I might have a look at it. Although at the moment I'm not sure if it would be a 2009 set or one from the 1990's or what... I'd like to do a 1998 one cos I loved the Porsche v. Merc battles from that season, but I can't really remember any other cars from then so it might be a bit restricted! So it would probably be a recent one so I can paint the gorgeous Aston Martin DB9 :D

If you decide to make a 1998 one, let me know. There were also some other interesting cars involved in this year: Panoz, Oreca with the Viper, Marcos and in Le Mans Toyota and Nissan. All in all there should be no problems to get a full grid...

I already started with the Zakspeed Porsche and the Panoz btw (there's a thread in the "working area" where you can find screenshots of them).

Oh yeah I forgot about the Viper! Easily done, it's not like it won much in its career... ](*,)

1.make all green
2.in Jameditor rightclick jam 407
3.click Texture Properties...
4.mark Transparent
The front view bug is fixed!

BUT:The lowest part in rear view is now also transparent. :?
Maybe you can lower the lowest points at the rear end and paint the missing black part. :-k
