Import and export GP2 menu pictures - WinXP.

Post by AAS »

I work on a new site.
http://grandprix2.de/Anleitung/gp2pic/gp2pic2.htm

Questions :
Do you see the same error message if you install WinHipic Pro v1.4 ?
Does the solution work on your computer (XP) ?

Can someone test the batches files ?
(Guido van de Water's batch file is modified a little)

Do you know other programs, solutions to manage
GP2 background pictures ?

I have it all the time. Winhipic Pro v1.4 doesn't work on XP. I can only use it on win95. I have a PC with win95, so i can use winhipic pro 1.4 on that PC, and it's the only program i use.

Don't have much on my winxp PC that has something to do with Gp2. So can't test the batched file or something else either....

Guys, are you both saying that you get the "Can't find C:\command.com" error message and that copying command.com to C:\ doesn't work?

I'll try it here and at work to see if I get the same error message.
I'll see if I can wave a magic wand over it.

I say that, too. For my it doesn't work either.

When I copy command.com into C:\, I don't get this message anymore, but the program still doesn't work. When I want to import the trackmaps, I get "Run-time error '53': file not found" and WinHipic shuts down itself.

After some starting problems (which I solved with the help of Andreas) Guido van de Waters program works very good for me. But it only worked, when I gave it the patch to my unpatched, clean GP2! It seems it doesn't work with already edited F1PCSVGA-files (at least that's what I think I have discovered).

You should defrag the F1pcsvga.bin. with Gethipic.bat

I haven't used the program, but here is what I did to get it to start.

1. Download COMCTL32.OCX. I got mine from the first site that Google found for me.
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/su ... MCTL32.OCX

2. Register the file by clicking on Windows Start / Run.
Paste this command into the Run window and then click Ok.
regsvr32 \windows\system32\COMCTL32.OCX
You should get a succeeded message.

3. Copy command.com from C:\WINDOWS\system32 to C:\.

It worked for me.

I think that what is happening here is that older programs used common files that were part of earlier versions of windows or were installed by other programs that have not been reinstalled on Windows XP machines. The same thing happened with Fragata, but with different files.

I did this with this file and COMDLG32.OCX too. Now it works!

AAS, for the toturial:

Make a note that the person who runs this toturial should download this DLL-Libary (http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/libraryfiles.exe) and install it. On this way you should get arround the problems....

The prog runs on my PC, but it is not able to switch textures?

It always tells me that the pics are not in correct format (wrong dimension, wrong bitmap-format) but Fragata Trackmanager is able to use this textures, so that is not true :?

Do you have any clues?

Hi,

first of all thanks for the kind offer, I really apreciated that :)

It was WinHiPic Pro, and I found the solution -> if a texture is not in the root-folder where WHP is located, you get that confusing error-message. Really strange but now it works for me ! :D

P.S.: Operating Sys is Win XP and unfortunately I haven`t got a PM

Well, single map changing works. But, if i try to do a "Multiple Insert" i get an error:

RUN-TIME ERROR '6':

OVERFLOW

What is this, and what can i do about it???

I get track map editing done now through a batch file, extins.bat. This works fine, but i really prefer the "Multiple Insert" of WinHiPic 1.4!

I know I keep saying this, but use Fragata.
It swaps the track and maps at the same time. Anything from one to 16 tracks at a time.

Tdk, is this with WinHiPic?

Yes, I get the same error message.

Fragata is great for changing the maps but I guess it won't update the menu pictures...using the batchs all you have to do is to put the files in the same folder and launch the bat.
