Trackmaps 2007

Post by MaxX »

Due I don`t want to mess up the 2007er thread I post this here.

Just made some more Trackmaps for the Menu, what do you think about them?

I used a mix of the cars from the carsets from TDK, DJS and HF (they are all so great, I picked my fav liveries from each carset), I hope this is OK for you guys.

Of course the track and carset artists will get their credit when I release that stuff

How can I import the trackmaps? I can import the tracks with the Fragata-track-manager, but not the maps...

I would like to have real pics in the trackmap, but it seems this is hardly possible because of the very, very limited colour-palette.

With GP2HIPIC.exe and a little batch file you can export /import every single menupicture or all pictures in one step.
With the batch files by Guido van de Water you can export /import all at once.
http://www.gprix2.com/cdrom/utils/menuedit_gw.zip

Maybe you must correct the paths to your GP2 Installation.

The paths from the original batch file PIC-OUT :
gp2hipic.exe -x #01 c:\cdrom\gp2\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 01.bmp
gp2hipic.exe -x #02 c:\cdrom\gp2\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 02.bmp
gp2hipic.exe -x #03 c:\cdrom\gp2\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 03.bmp
gp2hipic.exe -x #04 c:\cdrom\gp2\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 04.bmp
gp2hipic.exe -x #05 c:\cdrom\gp2\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 05.bmp
...................

The paths from my batch file PIC-OUT :
gp2hipic.exe -x #01 E:\GP2NEU\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 01.bmp
gp2hipic.exe -x #02 E:\GP2NEU\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 02.bmp
gp2hipic.exe -x #03 E:\GP2NEU\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 03.bmp
gp2hipic.exe -x #04 E:\GP2NEU\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 04.bmp
gp2hipic.exe -x #05 E:\GP2NEU\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin 05.bmp
..................

You can edit the batch file in your text editor, very easy.

I want to write a batch file for one ore two pictures.
Which number is which menupicture ?

Thank you for the tips! I'm sure they will work on every other computer, but not on my one. It's always the same shit. I'm really pissed of right now. No tool for GP2 works good on this fucking system. I hate it!!!

Maybe you should copy your GP2 to
c:\gp2\ or d:\gp2
It's easier to write a batch file then !?!

With the new background-pictures or the trackmaps GP2 looks completely different, like something new! I'm really happy it finally worked! It was always my goal to update those pics one day. Very, very cool! :D

I have a problem everytime I change these images (the same problem happens in GP3 and GP3 2k). I make the changes, everything works fine for weeks, sometimes months. But there's always a time when the images become corrupt, all the images I've changed. Did anybody ever have this problem?

yes, when you export many textures to the F1PCSVGA.bin.

When you try out all your new track maps, you will have this problem.
Make sure you have a copy of the fresh F1PCSVGA.bin
When your project is finished you should use a fresh F1PCSVGA.bin.

With the FTM you can defrag the F1PCSVGA.bin.
I did not test that

Okay. I backed up one file and still have one unused in one of my 3 GP2-installations. ;-) :)
