Actually, I don't have any evidence that Gonzalez had used to race with such livery
I've just put him in one team with Onofre Marimon, who drove such car at least during Italian GP, despite it was a works Maserati and should be painted red.
The main reason to use this livery was to make the grid more attractive. Just imagine - first 8 to 10 positions ocupied by Ferraris and Maseratis - all in red, than some blue Gordinis mixed up with few green Coopers, and the rest of green British cars at the end of the pack... But that's the history...
