Longest GP2 race possible?

Post by ismael »

I installed Nordschleiffe60 in slot 1, calibrated to do 99 laps and put it in Ace level. Just for the fun, uploaded a carset of Le Mans (of 1999). Chose no player - just to see how much time would take.

Race won by Gené/Minassian in a Peugeot 908 HDi FAP after 4h 49m.58.653.

The race should be a bit longer if you choose the "Beginner" level because of higher lap times.

Maybe this will give you the missing 10 minutes and the race will reach 5 hours.

I think it's possible to do either 126 or 127. I can't remember which one it is

IIrc you can have 126 laps but the cockpit will only show 2 digits. But idk for sure.

The longest track I can remember is Nurburgring Sudschleife with 7.4km, but it is faster than the reduced Nordschleife tracks so the laptime is probably a lot quicker. Another one that would probably give very long races would be Megapol by Otavio Silveira and AAS: it's "only" 6.5km long but it is a 90º corners fest.

Anyway, 4h 49m is already an achievement by itself

I just tried to see how long I could have a race and simulated a race at Antonio Pessoa's new updated version of the Nordschleife. The race was 125 laps and done in a 1953 carset. The race lasted 10h 17m 05.967s and was won by Juan Manuel Fangio. Alberto Ascari was 2nd 3.25.105s behind and Mike Hawthorn was the only other car on the lead lap 4m 33.357s behind Fangio

Where can I find this updated version of the Nordschleife? What's different about it?

You can download it in this thread. It has an updated cc-line along with updated track width and heights

That's fantastic, thanks for the very quick response! The new track width and cc line is amazing, though I do have an issue with all the computer cars exiting the pits too quickly and crashing on the outside of the first corner as they leave the pit lane. This seems to happen in every slot I try, do other people have this issue or is there something I can change in the magic data to fix this?

I haven't really done much with the track itself besides the simulated long race so I'm not sure about the pit issue. Magic data may fix it but I'm not really good with it so one of the members that are better with it can probably give you a better answer.
