F1 2012 carset
Re: F1 2012 carset
Here's a quick test I made with the nose "step". Just to check the texture distortions. I know it doesn't look like a 2012 car (I've just added the step, no other changes), but I think it shows that with improved tweaking, an acceptable car shape can be done.

It's looking good enough I think. Well done and great job, Roberto. This time I can just watch.

Seconded. Ugly nose can look good in GP2 perspective

Re: F1 2012 carset
Hi guys
Thanks a lot for your shape, Roberto. It really looks realistic. =D>
But though it's a 2/3 of real car size in comparison with other games this looks ridiculous.
Maybe if I find time next week I'll lurk through the carshape guide to find this command cuz resizing the car editing all the points...eh
And of course if I find a program to manage palettes and to make it 256 colours I'll help you with the carset (I think IrfanView can do this but it's not downloaded yet)
About the grip and power values: I think I can do it precisely not this year because all the summer I didn't have a though about GP2 and now here's stiil not finished formulae to count them. I just need to remember what I thought about it last year, doing macros, accumulating data...so not 2012 .
But I'm sure you'll do this the best way as NL^2 did former times.

Re: F1 2012 carset
That's interesting. I've never noticed GP2 cars being smaller than real cars. That shape it's on the same size as NL² 2010 shape, which means that maybe previous years shapes were also too small.Mad_Troyden wrote:Hi guys

I remember reading some track editing tutorial, article or post which said that in GP2, tracks look wider than they really are, maybe that's the problem. Using GP2 object size scales, that shape will be almost 5 meters long (just like real F1 cars) and that's probably why the authors decided for that size, but maybe those scales are not accurate (thinking about that size, the cars really don't look that big to me too).
Unfortunately, there's no way to resize the full car automatically, you must go point by point, so expect a lot of boring work. Maybe, if you can do the calculations right, you can change the scales first, and then you'll "just" need to edit the z-axis position for each point, but I'm not really sure.
Re: F1 2012 carset
From this prospective, that seems perfect!!
Maybe it can be better to use this shape as a base for 2012 cars.
Thanks a lot also for the ongoing carset

Re: F1 2012 carset
I think you should use Michael's modification.
Re: F1 2012 carset
Yes. Michael's shape looks better. Anyway, those pictures were made with the wrong shape (becouse I've sent him the wrong shape ). The correct one looks a little better.
