It would be useful to have some kind of intermediate/milder sterring aid, because the default one gives an "on rails" feeling.

Steering help can be turned off from the options.
I drive with a real wheel and pedals. Without the 'opposite lock' help ON, I can never catch the car when it comes loose. Having 'steering help' on just makes it drive stupid with a real wheel and pedals.

I'm sorry- I should have spent more time paying attention to what I read.
You are right- but honestly I don't see a way to make the game even reasonably enjoyable with a keyboard. You should at least get an analog gamepad. I wouldn't play gp2 anymore if I couldn't have my steering wheel and pedals.

Re: Does there exist a tool for disabling the steering help?
I wonder how it would be with a playstation analog keypad (I only had wheels in the past).
Anyway, for those interested, there is actually a utility to disable steering aids even with keyboard, it's listed here , "KBDSTEER.EXE allows disabling Steering help and Opposite lock when playing using the default keyboard settings"
On a funny note, on the same page there is a "playtime logger" that tells you the time you spent with GP2. For addiction control, I suppose.

I use a Logitech f310 gamepad which you can switch input to D-input for traditional Logitech style (like PS2) and X-input which is Xbox style pad.
Both inputs work perfectly for me once setup.
