What exactly the parameter "Random power variation" in the car settings do? Should I activate it for a more realistic feeling?

As far as I'm aware, this randomises the values defined in the carset for engine power, so if you leave it unchecked, the car will always be exactly as powerful as specified in the carset, if you activate it, power varies a bit from race to race.

What would be good is if you could control this variation like you can with the random grip range for the drivers.
