Carshape on windows 10

Post by phil225 »

Hello guys.
First of all I would like to thank to everyone who keeps this game alive after so many years.

I'm having a problem with the Carshape Distance configuration:

The program Set Carshape Distance don't open on Windows 10, even with compatibility mode.
The gp2lap, I can't open the program with the DosBox X64.
The gp2lap win version opens normally, but any changes I make have effects.

Anyone have any tip about those configs? I'm trying to play with 50's cars.
For information only, GP2Edit and CarEditor works well on Win10.

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome!

Please explain your problems with GP2Lap. You should run it instead of GP2.exe with DosBox. It is not an editor or a patch, it is a launcher. Point DosBox to open it the same way you do for GP2.exe and it should work. And it must be in the same folder as GP2.exe.

I've never seen that error before. Are you using DOS4G instead of DOS4GW?

That's not what I'm talking about. Is there a file called DOS4GW.EXE or DOS4G.EXE in your GP2 folder?

Also, can you post the contents of your Gp2lap.cfg here?

Your CFG seems fine.

For GP2Lap to work you need to have DOS4GW.EXE in your gp2 folder. You can get it in the gp2lap website -> https://rsdi.home.xs4all.nl/gp2lap.html

Just extract the file to your GP2 folder.

Anyway, I have to say that the error message you got is quite cryptic and I can't find cfg file for gp2lap or dosbox that has such line. Maybe it is finding a dos4g version somewhere else in your computer, then adding dos4gw to your gp2 folder should fix it, but who knows?

If everything fails, maybe you should try another dosbox version. The ECE version works greatly for me and many of us (that said, the version you are using worked fine for me too, iirc).
