Someone probably noticed this before, but it seems like the value for Computer Controlled Cars Weight in the Car Settings of GP2Edit is not the ccs weight after all.
I've run some tests in game and noticed that the cc lap times were much more affected by the Players Car Weight than the CC Weight. Checking it on the the GP2Lap saved .glx cars confirms that the weights for ccs and players cars are the same, even if they are different in GP2Edit.
Of course, that value does mean something, I don't just know what. But my tests found a nice side effect: changing GP2Edit ccs weight does make the ccs faster, but not in the same rate it should. Watching the effect in game, I noticed that it changes the ccs acceleration at slow speed (like the weight would do, but in a different rate. Adding 25kg of weight in cars that lap around 2 minutes in Spa raised the laptimes by 2 tenths, while doing the same for players cars weight raised cc laptimes in 9 tenths, a much more realistic effect IMO).
This means that lowering the GP2Edit ccs weight helps balancing low speed acceleration for low powered carsets. I've tested with carsets with around 250bhp and 350bhp and the effect was much better than with using the "asphalt acceleration" values from the Slot and Tyres Editor (even if not perfect). And we could use both!
Knowing this we can make fair races against the ccs using low powered cars more fair, without passing all of them at the race start, which was always the GP2 bug that most annoyed me, because spoiled my fun when trying to make races with early F1 (form 50ies to early 80ies), touring cars and other series carsets.

Re: Computer Car Weight
For me this was just a though until now...
When I had created my NFSF carsets and played with cc weight I had noticed interesting things and looks like we both had saw the same effect.
Re: Computer Car Weight
Good to know that you already play tested this and it worked for you. Maybe this allows me to restart some old projects.RacerBG wrote:For me this was just a though until now...When I had created my NFSF carsets and played with cc weight I had noticed interesting things and looks like we both had saw the same effect.
Re: Computer Car Weight
Fantastic news! It's very fun to play without pass them all at start! I search this since a long time..
Thanks Roberto!
