You should use the utility GP2 Slots and Tyres Editor made by rremedio. There you can change the human player fuel consumption. Read the instructions first.
There are a lot of other features you will see in this editor.

Well...there are a lot of drivers and teams from current F1 that have encountered the same problem and have the same question!!! :D anyway for gp2 is normal...but you can solve it simply by changing player's grip factor in GP2Edit (button car settings) for those races where you get bad results. do you use a special program to edit the sounds? I tried to put in gp2edit some sounds from a bmw touring car...but then in the game the sound is strange...

Yes, he is right...the template is always the same and you can find it as a .bmp in Gp2Edit...
Than you have a different program (Gp2 Carshape) to change the shape of the cars (here there are a lot of shapes from F1, Indy, Touring Cars, Le Mans Prototypes..)
