Game Settings

We insist on you using a car set for the races, these are availiable from the "downloads" page. Remember, that all the games settings must be as default! There is no restriction on control method. You may drive at any difficulty level and with any driver aid except that in the race you may NOT use the F4 indestructibility driver aid.

Frame Rate/Processor Occupancy

We suggest that you set the Frame Rate at one setting below the "estimate" and that you also turn off the sky texture and display only smoke in the mirrors. This will help in stopping people doing so called "slow mo" laps, where the computer skips out of real time and a game second can be as long as 3 seconds by exceeding your computers processor power and providing an unrealistic Hot Lap.

Driving the track

You must drive on the track, and not cut corners or chicanes to gain time. If you are judged to have gained time but cutting corners you will be penalised, basically keep on the track and kurbs. If at any time you break this rule a penalty will be imposed on you by the "Drivers Committee".

Qualifying

There will be two qualifying sessions for each race. Qualifying can be done in any game mode (practise or qualifying) when you have done your fastest lap, press the "ESC" key and select "SAVE HOT LAP". Name the lap according to the table later on this page. When the deadline approaches email your Hot Lap to fvebr@xyz.com and "CC" it to MSNGP2@xyz.com. Shortly after the dead line the results will be shown on the MSNGP2 web page, newsgroup and you will be informed by email. The next session will then start, and follows the same guidlines.
**All drivers must enter the first session, the second session is there only for anyone who wants to improve there times, and is not compulseary. Any driver that wishes to race, but did not qualify in session one, will start from the back of the field if they enter session two. Any driver wishing to race who did not enter either qualifying session will start from 26th and last place on the grid, but only if they have informed us.**

The Race

The race must be done in one sitting (no saving the game every few laps) and as a "quickrace" at 50% distance. The race distance is set using "GP2Edit". You must race using an MSNGP2 approved Car Set. Select your correct starting position from the qualifying results. During the race the "F4" driver's aid must NOT be used. As you sit on the grid press the "ESC" key and select "save game" name this file correctly like in qualifying. Now enjoy your race. As you cross the line to finish your race press the "ESC" key and select "save race", name it properly, then select "save hot lap" name it properly. As the deadline approaches send all three files to ekoeleman@xyz.com and "CC" it to MSNGP2@xyz.com. A day or so later the race results will be put on show on the MSNGP2 web page, newsgroup and by email.
