23.01.2007 - The 1991 Sportscar season saw the introduction of new rules stipulating the use of 3.5-litre atmospheric engines, the same as used in F1, for Group C cars. As not all teams were able to comply, the old cars were still allowed to run in the C2 category.

The season opener at Suzuka saw an unexpected victory for the Peugeot team. But after that the Jaguars converted their speed into victories, while the Sauber Mercedes had massive problems with the all-new engine and the Peugeots were simply too slow.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans saw the first win for a Japanese manufacturer. The Mazdas ran like clockwork, with car no. 55 driven by Weidler / Herbert / Gachot taking the flag first.

For the following round at the Nürburgring Peugeot introduced their Evo 1 bis (Evolution 1 Plus). Now they were the team to beat and scored two wins in row. But also Sauber Mercedes got their engine and gearbox running better, which led to Wendlinger / Schumacher winning the season's last race at Autopolis.

Behind the 3 top teams (1st Jaguar, 2nd Peugeot, 3rd Mercedes), Euro Racing finished 4th with their customer Spice chassis, ahead of Mazda, whose 787B was simply not competitive over the shorter distance races. After those teams, Kremer Racing was the best placed Porsche team.

The season saw also the introduction of the new 3.5-litre cars of Brun and Konrad, which proved to be fast but unreliable.

Some screenshots will follow! An update of the carset is also planned.
