Creating my own helmet to use

Post by 77Racer »

Hi folks - me again! Sorry!
I race in iracing and wanted to know how I can use my own helmet design in that ad transfer it to GP2?
I know about the pixels will change and that but is there an easy way to do it?

It depends on the texture format for the helmet in iRacing. GP2 uses a very small image for the helmet painting.

Thanks for the reply buddy - I thought that might be the case.
Is there a way I can try to replicate the same design for use in GP2?
Or do you know someone who would be able to do it for me? Its not a complicated design at all lol :D

Can you post the texture you use in iRacing?

the screenshots are included.

The main iracing file is a .tga file so would need converting? Or starting from scratch?

The .tga file is too large to upload here...

Here is how the helmet from Senna from the 1993 carset looks in the GP2 format (it has a somewhat similar layout to yours).

yep - thats what my helmet design is based on. He was my childhood hero...

my question is, how to I get a copy of mine to look like a GP2 helmet? :D

What format are the helmets created in?
Are they MS Paint?
256 colours?

Any ideas on if it is possible to open up something like GIMP, load up my iracing helmet, and then transform it into the correct format that GP2 would use it?

Hm, the base image helmet is built in a way which prevents you from a simple conversion.

As suggested by Roberto, I would also go for a repaint of Senna`s helmet. You have to take care of the bitmap palette, just export a helmet from GP2Edit to get the palette.

I like the livery :D

with the right part you could also achive the white circle with the red lines. The fonts might be a problem, that`s true
