FIA Formula Two Championship 2009

Post by rremedio »

I've started this project a long time ago, but I've stopped becouse I wasn't too much on painting cars. Now after I've completed the cars for the season 2 of my fictional carset I feel I can paint a little better and faster (but not so good as you real car painters, of course).

Some liveries are not correct yet (logos missing, wrong paint schemes) becouse the cars are based in pictures I have on my hd and the presentation designs that were on the website before the season start (and which turned out different from the real cars), but they will all be corrected soon.

I also need to tweek the carshape a little (it's based on NL² F1 2008).

F2 is a new series launched in 2009 as a less expensive alternative to GP2 and Renault 3.5. The cars are manufactured by Williams F1 to resemble several aspects of F1 racing and they have 400bhp Audi engines. There are no teams, so the drivers should all have the same opportunities. To the champion is granted a test with Williams F1, the top 3 get F1 Superlicenses. They are bellow Renault 3.5 and ahead F3 in terms of performance.

The value of F2 as a school series for F1 has yet to be proven, but they've got some great close racing in 2009 (I didn't watch any races for 2010, yet). Sadly, Henry Surtees passed away in a bizarre accident at Brands Hatch and many people may know F2 just becouse of that.

What's done:

Cars 7/27
Helmets 1/27
Tyres 0/1
Menu helmets 0/27
Carshape 85%
Performance 100%

If you want to help, just join!

These are the cars I've been painting this week (there are more cars I've painted last year, but they are all wrong and ugly :P )

#1 - The launch car, used in the early tests:

#2 - Sebastian Hohenthal (there are logos missing):

#4 - Julien Jousse (just needs some little detail):

#7 - Henry Surtees (a logo is missing in the nose):

#8 - Tobias Hegewald (several logos missing):

#10 - Nicola De Marco (still looks more like the preseason presentation than the real car):

#12 - Robert Wickens (just needs some little detail):

#33 - Philipp Eng (the orange colour looks terrible):

It is not dead, but I don't know when I'll return to work...as with all my projects. But don't worry, there are few cars missing for the first release.

Rise from your grave, topic!

Well, after 2 or 3 years without editing anything I found some time to edit again. 14 cars are finished, so we have a playable set. Just need more helmets. I don't think I'll ever be able to complete all 27 cars, so I may release it this way.

I've sent this carset to Andreas last year but since it's taking a while to appear in the site, I'll put a link here too https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/cacc ... 009_rr.zip
