'Mod pack' Etiquette

Hi team, hope you are all well..
I have been receiving requests by GP2 fans to upload their 'packs' to the Discord server, which are used with Hatcher's x86GP2.
These 'packs' contain work that is not their own. It could be a lot of your work (tracks, carsets etc)..
So far, I haven't let anyone do this.
Do you think this is acceptable, or would you like me to stop people from doing this?
I seem to remember this (or something similar) has happened years ago on this forum..
I've sent Roberto a message about this, but I must ask you too.
Please advise if you can..
Thanks,
Danny

Hello, the carsets I submit to the forum are free to use. There's no need to even mention that they were my work, as they're not professional and I have no interest in monetization. I do this purely as a hobby.
My goal has always been to make the files free for anyone to use, modify, or enhance for their own use.

I never created anything but for what its worth it doesn't bother me whatsoever. I know that might be controversial but I really don't care.
What does bother me is that discorse is a closed platform that's not accessible for the general public. So whatever information or mod packs gets posted there its not available for everyone. That to me is a form of digital apartheid where the non discorse user becomes subjugated. Let's not forget that many gp2 users are very old and might not even own a smartphone to use these trendy apps, or might not want to as they have different sensibilities.
Slowly but surely predatory operators such as discorse and others of their ilk (zuckerburg et al) are completely killing off traditional forums where the knowledge, mods, tools, utils are accessible to all without exception. Sorry to be controversial but I really hate discorse and all other operators like them

This was a big point of controversy some 25+ years ago. There were sites like grandprix2.com with tons of new downloads every day, many of them being just releases of previous works with minimal changes. Like, there were a ton of Monza 99 tracks which were all the same with minor config changes (like car setups, or a single advert, etc) and there was no mention to the actual author of the track. For that reason, some creators added something like "you cannot use this track as a base for your work" in the readme file. I think this was done mostly as a way to give site admins a clear reason to remove the copies.
I always tried to stay clear of using those files as a base since I was never able to contact the original authors (but I may have published ccline updates for tracks with those kinds of 'licenses', I'm not really sure).
When I remember to add info about such subjects to my files, I always ask for adding previous authors names if you use them as a base. But there is nothing stopping anyone of not doing so. And I try to always include their names myself (am I sure I did that for all my works? no...)
We are a much smaller community now and a more respecful one, I think. So I haven't seen anyone release anything that would be considered wrong for many many years.
If I wasn't able to use previous works from other authors as a base I would probably never have created anything for GP2 ever.

I have seen some of my livery and helmet designs being used in other packs, such as a Formula E pack that was recently put on the forum, but I consider my designs free to use for anyone so I have no issue with them being used and shared elsewhere

Thanks for your opinions and feedback. Much appreciated!
I feel I have implemented a rule/process for the Discord server so that new users (especially those who may have never been involved with the community previously) show respect for original creators.
Please let me know if you notice anything that could be disrespectful..
GP2Tifosi28 - I hear and understand what you are saying, this is why I set up the Discord to be different, so that it would suppliment and respect this forum rather than becoming a rival. It's also more accessible for other users (many new to GP2) who operate differently, and maintains/grows the fanbase.
Thanks guys
