Anyone prepared to give this a go
My idea is to build up a team who can work on improving the way Grand Prix 2 looks. I have already added some stuff done by other people of which i will obtain permission before we release the full update. The idea being that Grand Prix 2 will be revived completely and look good. This is difficult with 256 color bitmaps so if anyone can find a way to change the picture type somehow that would be good. Here are what you can work on:
Picture Type (Changing from 256 Bitmap, if this fails we will just do what we can with 256):
Cars:
Adverts: Xeltron245
Pitcrews:
Trees:
Tarmac & Kerbs:
Tyres: Xeltron245
Bushes:
Animations: (CHEQU1.JAM,FLAGCHEQ.JAM, etc.)
Sky Clouds:
Crowd:
Car Shadows:
Damage Graphics:
Grass Graphics:
Any help with this would be appreciated. Some jobs are bigger than others.

I'm not good with graphics, but I like to play with car physics, grips, performances, tyre wears, setups, etc...If you also need this (to create more realistic feelings for 2007) I may try to help.
I think AAS or other guys may try to convert GP3 tracks to GP2, to have more realistic layouts and cclines. But I know it would be a gigantic work, so I don't know if there's anyone interested on making this.
Anyway, even if you go just on graphics, I'm sure it will be great for GP2.
Regards!

That is work for a track editors community.
There is no such community.

I think so, too. About ten years ago there were guys like Steven Young or Paul Hoad who wrote great programs for GP2. I guess if they would have found out how to increase the colour-palette or the sizes of jam- or track-files they would have done it. But as they didn't do it I also think that it's not possible.
And thb I think we already have a lot (!!) very good graphics!

I just wanted to second that. There's a lot of looks that can be improved by painting good graphics and stuff like that. GP3 uses a much better graphic engine and yet a lot of cars I've seen for GP2 in recent years look more detailed to me.V12-Power wrote:And thb I think we already have a lot (!!) very good graphics!
For me, the challenge of patching GP2 is trying to make the most of it despite its limitations...
