Learning track editing in gp2 in 2025
Re: Learning track editing in gp2 in 2025
Michael - I need your help!
I am trying to add a jam texture to a building (I actually got it from your Rio track).
I modified the GPO file with the object editor, and it is picking up the correct jam file, however the ability to REPEAT the texture is missing! I don't know why. I tried looking at the GPO file with notepad and I see there are differences, but I can't change them (even with notepad) to make it load in object editor without it crashing immediately.
How can we add the repeat horizontal / vertical options to an object that does not use them?

Yes I know this problem.. and I never resolved that. I think the best solution is to use an object where the texture have enough horizontal/vertical options. I know it is frustrating. I tried to add textures but often I had other errors when I imported in the track. ](./images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)

I am trying to create this building. You had a 3 polygon object in your Rio track that I was going to use to make 3 sides that were almost a semi circle since you don't really see the back from the track.Michael82 wrote: ↑28.07.2025, 18:20Yes I know this problem.. and I never resolved that. Can you suggest a good object?
one other thing - my track has a surround (verge?) that is all tan/brown colored (this is the surround color from my base at barcelona) can I change this easily to grey (like a street circuit should be?)
Re: Learning track editing in gp2 in 2025
Maybe there is an objet I used in Monaco just before ste devote curve on the left. It is an rounded building but maybe there are too much texture for your use. If you don't find that I can send it sunday.
About the verge you need to edit the scenaries otherwise you don't have any verge after the fence. For me the scenaries in GP2 track editor is the hardest thing and it caused me a lot of headaches as pitlane..sometimes.

Re: Learning track editing in gp2 in 2025
Well Michael - if it caused you headaches, it sure does not show in your work because the quality is excellent. There really does not need to be a verge- I just want to change the "sand" style texture to something grey. Can I just change the JAM file? Really long beach will have no scenery really.Michael82 wrote: ↑01.08.2025, 20:32Maybe there is an objet I used in Monaco just before ste devote curve on the left. Re: Learning track editing in gp2 in 2025
Thanks, it is so a real satisfaction to make these tracks for GP2 and happy to see you are in this way too. I'm not sure about this texture but it seems to me it is the landscape.jam or monaco22.jam. I'll try to verify that tomorrow.
Re: Learning track editing in gp2 in 2025
Do you have try to replace ID texture 32 ?
Re: Learning track editing in gp2 in 2025
I assume texture 32 is part of the root gamejams folder, No I did not try and replace it.
I am having a different problem now though, unrelated to this. I am trying to make a circular building from the large jagged edge building in Monaco. This building has about 11 or so scales. I figured out how to assign new scales to points and completely change the geometry. I edited it into a perfectly hexagonal building that I am happy with. It looks good in track editor, and in the object editor. When I try it in the game, it looks twisted as if the textures are grabbing onto the wrong polygons or something.
I have read the object tutorials time and time again but I can't solve this. I see Ralph Smith talks about an "advanced object editing tutorial" but I don't know if this ever got created - and I have searched and can't find it.

Here is a picture from my object editor
You can see I have the shape I want. However in the game it does not come up right.
This is the object that I started off with... I only picked it because it had enough scales.

Is your Long beach CC line ready? Scenery is a long process.. it gaves me a lot of headaches
but when know how use it you can go on step by step.

Re: Learning track editing in gp2 in 2025
Here are some pictures - these are cell phone pictures because I posted them on gplaps discord when I was working on this part of the circuit. Why cell phone pictures? Discord is blocked where I do my track editing, so I use the discord app on my phone.
Here you can see the ribbons I made to sort of make the building on the left and the texture change where it becomes the grassy hill. It still needs trees I know. I took palm trees from Sepang so I will use those. Comparison with google earth street view.

Here are some buildings I did (most of these I took from your Monaco Michael or original gp2 Monaco and manipulated them)
