Agreed, the HRT does look good. But dark grey? Error. It kind of looks like what a Red Bull would be like if Midland ran it...

How many dark grey cars have there actually been? Off the top of me head I can think of the Midland (although that had a fair bit of white and red too), and the Euro Brun from about 1990. Neither looked brilliant...

Interesting to have one team come out with a livery using very bland colours. Judging from how the team was restructured recently and how urgent matters are right now to get everyone and everything to Bahrain, I'm imagining this could be as much as a template livery as what Brawn put on its cars at the beginning of last season. If they were to attract somewhat major sponsorship, such a livery would probably be the easiest to abandon in favour of something else.

I'm glad it eventually looks as if we're going to see at least three of the new teams at the first Grand Prix.

I remember the Sauber from 1993, it looked pretty much the same.

But something says me these guys from HRT are really a bunch of amateurs, look at the front tyre and the marked arrows' on it by Bridgestone, they don't put those things on it for nothing..... [-(

 Well watched! That really doesn't leave a professional impression!

The 1991 Tyrrell-Honda had a very similar colour scheme. I liked it, as I like the HRT scheme. I guess that it would convince more, if it was presented in a better way.

I personally think the Virgin Racing car is the best looking colour wise, but when I watched the McLaren being revelaed, I couldn't believe the shape... it just looks so fast!

Oh yeah, lol @ the new teams being 5 seconds off the pace and Hispania driver Senna stating they're 1 second quicker... yeah, get some lap times in first you fucking dummy. Virgin's car was designed in a complete virtual world, but they're still 5 seconds behind. It doesn't matter what 'systems' show. BTW I love the reference of the "VR" in Virgin's logo that for me represents the way the car was designed. I doubt they even know that assumption, but for me I'd like to think it's a little nod from the design team!

Here's to the 2010 season. I just hope the new guys will stay. Don't want another LOLA from 97 season when they are off the pace so much.

What do you guys think about today's free practices? What I saw from the results is the new teams are way slower than the others.

Yeah, I see that Jean Todt is in favour of bringing back the 107% qualifying rule, which is probably a good idea to a degree. It doesn't give a good impression of F1 as a whole if you've got cars being lapped five or six times a race, although the gap is exaggerated a bit at the Sakhir circuit because it has a long lap time. Seven seconds off the pace here is probably going to be more like four or five at a track like Albert Park or Catalunya.

Still, at least it won't be as bad as it used to be. Over here in the UK ESPN Classic has been showing the 1970's F1 reviews for the past week or so, and although the racing was generally better and the cars looked brilliant, it looked so amateurish at times, especially when drivers would get hold of an ancient car to race in their home GP, qualify ten seconds off the pace, and then trundle around being lapped every two minutes!

It's not really a surprise they're so far back, especially for HRT. They've done no testing, their drivers have never started an F1 race before, and they were only confirmed 10 days ago. Even so, it reminds me of Lola. I have to say that was such a shame, as the 97 Lola is my favourite F1 car in terms of appearance.

Plus Senna is getting a lot of attention, almost as much as Schumacher. I have to say, I hope the team doesn't fold Lola-style, as it would almost certainly end a promising career before it's even begun.

Shame too about Virgin and Lotus being so slow, looks like the end of the road for Jarno Trulli at last. And how about Sauber? Where's that shock we were all expecting?

I'd have to say Alonso for the win, although I'd rather it was one of the silver cars.....any of the 4 of them, actually......

It's gonna be a big battle for pole tomorrow. Do you think it will be a surprise polesitter?

Yeah it's a pity HRT are so far off the pace, but I don't think they'll go the same way as Lola. Lola simply weren't ready as they were planning to enter in 1998, but the sponsors (Mastercard) pushed them into starting a season early, then pulled their backing after the results didn't come. The car was never even tested in a wind tunnel! HRT's situation is different; although they aren't ready either, it's simply because they haven't had the opportunity to go testing; the plan was always to enter this season. There's some quality people involved too, obviously Dallara have designed the car but Geoff Willis is also there, and Colin Kolles tends to run a tight ship. And also I imagine they don't want to push the car too hard initially in order to get miles on it.

I'm also waiting for the new carset, although the race was probably the most boring one ever.

Very true. All that hype and promise, and we might as well have been watching the old GP Masters races.

Alonso WILL be world champion, I think that's already been established now.

Hard luck to Vettel, and to Chandhok actually. 5 laps in the entire weekend! But I was stunned by his qualifying lap, in 20 minutes he brought himself to just 1.7 seconds behind Bruno Senna, who'd had slightly more experience, and Chandhok has barely any F1 mileage at all. Could we really say we could've done better? Could even Jacques Villeneuve say that??!!??

Schumacher and Button were very disappointing, and actually so was Barrichello. All the fire from last year seems to have disappeared, and he seems like he's gone two years back in time.

I'm now only excited about the Grand Prix 2 carset of this season, so that the virtual races can be more exciting than the real ones!!
