Hello! Haven't posted here for ages! I may have a little project on the go...

Any ideas?

You mean, ideas about what your current project is? Well, you mentioned the "1986 European Touring Car Championship" before...

Progress update: all Volvos done, and a template for the driver menu pictures. Gone for a synthwave-inspired 1980s look for them.

Update!

Haven't done much on this since Christmas, but now I have a hatchback car shape and a load of Sierras here for your delectation. I've also done a few BMWs and Mercedes. Work is progressing; just very slowly. There's still quite a lot to do and to be honest, at times I think I've bitten off a lot more than I can chew. However, I've got both car shapes now so hopefully things might progress a bit more quickly.

"Hoping to get some more done in the next week", I said in my last post.

That was in May. It's now October.

Back in May when I said that, I was planning on doing the Ford Escort RS Turbos next: there were only two of them to paint. However I changed my mind and did the BMW 635CSi instead, of which there were about 3000...

Anyway, here's the first batch; it's a few of the one-off entries that competed during the 1986 ETCC season.

Hello everybody!

Been a very long time since I posted on here - around two and a half years, in fact.

Some of you may remember that I was in the middle of doing a 1986 ETCC carset at the time. As you may have gathered, I never got around to finishing it. I haven't actually used GP2 since then. Sorry to anyone who was waiting.

I haven't been idle, though: I've moved from drawing cars for an ancient PC game onto doing actual artwork. I'm now a motorsport artist!

I've got pages on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, if you're interested - all at dpadesign2020

Absolutely amazing stuff Greyhead, I'm VERY impressed.

I tried to create something similar myself a couple of years ago, but found it much more time-consuming than I was expecting.
Mind you, is manipulating shapes in Photoshop the way to achieve this sort of thing?

Unfortunately, I never actually completed the image below as I was forced to relinquish my involvement in the project it was created for.

I'd certainly appreciate any tips or advice, from someone who's clearly a master at this form of artwork, as I'd like to create more.

Thanks

Neil

@samsepi0l - Thank you! it's the 1999 BTCC title-winning Nissan Primera of Laurent Aiello. I've done a series of super tourers over the past year or so.

@neilwhitedesign - Thank you too! To be honest, I cheat a bit: I just trace an outline of the car on my phone with a stylus, then add in the bits of shading and stuff afterwards. Then I do the backgrounds using Paint.NET, to work out all the vanishing points and so on. Each one of these drawings took me about five days, but that's working around a full-time job and all that so in reality it's probably around 10-15 hours, depending on the quality of the photo I'm working from. Sometimes the photo can be quite low-res, especially for the older cars, so they tend to be a bit more work as I'm going from a photo that may be around 800px wide to create a drawing that's over 4000px wide.

That Lotus is lovely. You should definitely carry on!
