Australian GP qualy: Robert Shepherd from row 2 behind Dani Ric and Valteri Bottas
Well, first of all sorry to all of you, some other things got in my way these days, so no time for updating this league.

A promising thrilling season, GP2RW started the fire at Surfers Paradise with two "real humans" at the front row and Robert Sheperd from Caccere as the best "GP2-human". The brazilian team with divided feelings with Craig Richards in a poor P13, Young driver Andrew Davie will start from 6th in front of old lion Kurt Langer in his return to competition.

Image

Despite having contact with the wall, Alex Diehl completed the qualy in P9, the only yellow flags of the day.

Image

A discrete debut for BTSV Racing with drivers starting from P11 and 22. The same will be said for Holden Racing Team, Ingall and Skaife let spectators waiting for more aussie power on track. Carlos Sanchez, another old timer, have taken things easy and took P18. Mac Grand and Phill Prix dissappointed with a poor qualy; in drivers own words they were lacking speed in the straights.

Bottas wins first race at Australia

Valtteri Bottas wins second race in one week, this time at Surfers Paradise. The race was mostly dominated by the in race best "GP2-Human" driver Robert Sheperd, but a better pit strategy from Mercedes gives Bottas the win and Sheperd gets P2. Daniel Ricciardo couldn´t fight for the win giving up in the very last lap with mechanical failures.

Alexander Rossi finished P4, while Kurt Langer was fifth in a nice comeback to competition. Alex Diehl was P6 an example of consistency, keeping away of incidents and contacts. Phil Baffo was P7, but he had some contacts in a problematic corner of this venue (more on that later). Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sanchez and Felipe Massa completed the points positions.

Driver Championship Points

Valtteri Bottas 25
Robert Sheperd 18
Alexander Rossi 15
Kurt Langer 12
Esteban Ocon 10
Alex Diehl 8
Phil Baffo 6
Fernando Alonso 4
Carlos Sanchez 2
Felipe Massa 1

Constructors Championship Points

Mercedes AMG 25
Caccere Racing 18
Manor Mercedes 15
Ar-Racing 12
Force-India Mercedes 10
AD-Turbine 8
BTSV-Racing 6
McLaren Honda 4
McPherson Alfa 2
Williams Mercedes 1

Grip allocation values for next race (CC´s won´t get more grip)

Robert Sheperd 16020. This driver will have 4050 failure prob
Kurt Langer 16010. This driver will have 4030 failure prob
Alex Diehl 16005. This driver will have 4010 failure prob

All the rest will remain with initial values and any GP2-human driver can receive points from team managers, up to 100 points.

Some considerations

This version of Surfers Paradise (Roland Ehnström´s) had a problematic corner with many wheel contacts. The version I announced previously, Surfers Paradise 2007, for some reason didn´t work in any of my GP2 installs. Strange, because I´m sure I used this version in the last league.

Driver Phill Prix will change name from next race to Jill Prix #-o. Sorry Peze, when I received the message about the name change I just had saved the qualy

The video was made with low res VGA graphics, low detail and mostly taken from the cockpit, best option for more FPS. The original idea was recording video with SVGA and external cameras, but for some reason DOSBox performance was not good in my Win 10 laptop, so I used an old XP laptop slower in terms of CPU but faster for emulated GP2.

Esteban Ocon wins in China, Robert Sheperd best of us

Image

It was not a race with a lot of overtaking, but an interesting race in terms of strategy. Force India´s Esteban Ocon won by 1.5 secs over Valteri Bottas who couldn´t repeat Australia´s result. Robert Sheperd taked P3 after a good race as leader for many laps, making good use of power points gained in Australia. Kurt Langer deserved more, but at the end of the day he got P4. Veteran AR-Racing driver tried to catch Ocon for many laps, but couldn´t resist the attack of Bottas and Sheperd during the last laps. Ricciardo and Rossi, always in the fight, completed a good but uneventful race. Mostly for Rossi with a good amount of luck with marshalls not taking any action in a contact he had with Sheperd in the first part of the race. Alex Diehl and Andrew Davie was a pair to follow during the mid race, they didn´t fight with each other directly for positions, but completed P7 and 8 running together for most part of the race.

High point of the race: Esteban Ocon and consistency to maintain mid positions and the lead at the end, always under attack.

Low points: Phill Baffo. Baffo did a very good race from start to second pitstop, but languished in P12 at the end, behind the two weak McLaren Honda.
