Screen resolution problem

Post by apilaszkiewicz »

Hi, all. I am a newbie here, but play GP2 since a year or two. Do not have a single problem playing GP2 on WinXP, except screen resolution, which is not smooth enough. There are big pixels visible, which make playing (watching the screen) uncomfortable  . Have not found any solution... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! Somehow this sounds like you are playing in the VGA-mod. That could be changed in the graphics menu.

But somehow I doubt that this is the problem, as this would be too simple...

@V12Power : sorry for such an "obvious" problem, but ....ehmm..., yes, I have "3D Display Type" set to "VGA". Did try to enable "SVGA", but was not succeeded.
Once again, sorry to bother all of you, but ...how to do that ?. Simple clicking (such a way seems to be obvious for me) cause nothing. Looks like those "VGA" and "SVGA" "icons" are inactive.

Try changing it ingame. Options - Graphic Options (or something like that).

Select all files in your gp2 folder (and all subfolders as well), right click them and go to Properties. Then uncheck the "read only" checkbox. Then try to change the graphics type again.

I'm not sure, but maybe it helps.

This is strange, it might also be a permission problem with your folder, but on the other hand GP2 doesn`t writes the savestate immetiately.

Did you try to save the current gamesettings in advanced options? Do you get an error message?

Thanks for tips.
@rremedio : I did that (unchecked "read only" checkbox) with no results.
@MaxX : Yes, I have saved game settings in advanced options - no results. And I do not have any error message.
I will install the game on another comp and will report.

Hi all, once again.
Posting a screenshot is not necessary. Everything WORKS FINE !
As I wrote earlier, I installed the game on another comp. "SVGA" checkbox appeared active and I enabled it. Screen is smooth. Not sharp (as with GP4 or even GP3), but smooth enough to comfortable watching and playing.
Really do not know what caused the problem. I think that maybe graphic card type. Previous comp has SW card type, the new one has HW. But, saying the truth, ...I do not care :)
Thanks once again for helping me. And press on ...regardless !
