Virtual PC is also a good choice for those who has XP and a good enough pc (at least it was, I don't know if version 2007 works on XP). :)

Code: Select all

microsoft.com :
Virtual PC 2007 runs on: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Business; Windows Vistaâ„¢ Enterprise; Windows Vistaâ„¢ Ultimate; Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Windows Server 2003, Standard x64 Edition; Windows XP Professional; Windows XP Professional x64 Edition; or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
But it runs perfect with my Vista Home. It just is not officially supported. But it works.
You get a warning during install, ignore it and it works fantastic.

I read in another forum, it works also with xp home.

Edit:

Code: Select all

I read in another forum, it works also with xp home.
Apparently wrong !!!!

from wikipedia :
Windows XP ( XP Pro 32 bit and XP x64 64 bit only, not Home or Media Center editions )

Cool! I´ll try that virtual PC thing, It´s been a long time since the last time I played GP2 and I was seriously considering undust the old Pentium III thats sleeping in the attic and Install Win98 in it.

All I have got to do is to get an old PCI graphic adapter

Yesterday I tested some video capture programs.

I start GP2 in a window:
(Windows Vista Home + Virtual PC-Konsole (Microsoft Virtual PC 2007) +Windows98 + GP2 + gp2lap)
Image

then I capture the window with the Freeware "Debut Video Capture".

I have some problems. The Mouse arrow is always visibly and "Debut Video Capture" can not find my sound hardware.
I have captured the sound from the loudspeaker, with a old microphone.

Here is the result:

Link for video: http://grandprix2.de/temporaer/Untitled%2033.wmv 16,7MB

I can make greater videos (640x480) and the quality could be better.
There are a lot of Adjustment possible in "Debut Video Capture".

hi everyone and sry for bringing up this old thread again.
but i got a problem with getting gp2 to run in virtual pc.
my system: vista ultimate 64-bit --> virtual pc 2007 --> windows 98 se --> gp2
virtual pc works fine for several other games like f1manager96.
few days ago i installed gp2 without any problems. but if want to start it, first thing is that the intro doesn't run. well thats not so bad, but the whole game is some kind of broken. i don't see any movement. not in the menus when i move the cursor and not in the game when a race starts. i hear the sound (which also becomes broken after a few seconds and only runs like cutted into pieces from then on) but have to find my way through the game by remembering the the menu-orders and using cursors and enter/escape.
in 4 words: the game doesn't work!
is there anything i could have done wrong during the installation?
