Fix for running Fragata Track Manager on Windows XP PCs

Post by Ralph »

Are you having problems getting Fragata Track manager to run on your Windows XP PC?
I was and this is the fix that worked for me.

Run the FTM setup file and click Ok to the error message.
Copy DAO350.DLL and MSJET35.DLL from your FTM directory to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory.
Either from a DOS prompt or from the Windows Start / Run menu option, enter the following two commands.
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\dao350.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\msjet35.dll
This registers these two DLL files with Windows.

You should now be able to run Fragata Track Manager.

Sounds promising! I'll try it out next week and then tell you if it worked for me, too. Would be fantastic! :D

Thank you very much!! For me this solution works perfectly as well!! :D :D :D

But somehow I can't import the trackmaps from the game!? :(

Maybe it's a nice tip for grandprix2.de. :D

Can you export track maps to GP2?

I've never tried to import a map from GP2.
I didn't know it had the facility.

I didn't try to export a trackmap, because if I would do so, I would overwrite the original one of which I don't have a backup (I think).

So I wanted to import the ones from the game first, to have a backup. I thought it might have been possible, but probably it isn't. But how shall I back up the original maps then?

I have no experience with that, because Fragata never worked...

BTW: Win Hipic never worked on my computer as well. I think I will try it with the same method, which you found out for the track manager. Hopefully it will run then.

I just went through the procedure of extracting the original GP2 track maps.
Start up Fragata.
Import the circuits from GP2 with the GP2 Rescan button.
Save this track Pack as something like My Favourite tracks.
Rename gp2\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin.
Copy f1pcsvga.bin from your CD to gp2\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin
Move any existing bitmaps from gp2\bitmaps\ to a temporary directory.
Import the two bitmaps from one track at a time using Fragata Import Menu Picture. (Big and Small)
Rename them to something like GP2F1CT01Big.bmp and GP2F1CT01Small.bmp.
Repeat this for each track, one track at a time so that you know what track it matches.
When all are done, delete gp2\bitmaps\f1pcsvga.bin.
Restore the backup copy of f1pcsvga.bin you renamed earlier.
Move any existing bitmaps back to gp2\bitmaps\.
Copy the originals track files from the CD to a temporary directory.
Rename these original track files to something like GP2F1CT01.DAT.
Move the renamed track files to the gp2\circuits directory.
You can now associate the track maps to the original track files.
I suggest that you now install these tracks using Fragata.
Save this track Pack as something like Original GP2 tracks.
You can now load your My Favourite tracks pack or the Original GP2 tracks pack as a group with the correct menu maps.

For me, this solution does not work. Even after I copy and register both .DLL files, I still get the error message "This application cannot be run because .dll cannot be found" (that's literally what it says).

How do I solve this?

EDIT: Nevermind. For some reason, after I unzip the .CAB archive, it suddenly works...

I've tried to load FTM again... Worked fine for me on windows 7 32.... Not Windows 7 64..... It keeps coming up with st6unst.exe unable to be read. (and Avira says its a virus to boot, which is incorrect) any thoughts? or are there other track managing software out there? I've been in the wilderness for a few years....

EDIT- got it to work..... On one computer....

Have error reading parameters message...
