Players Grip Factor on GP2 Edit

Post by Mazorca »

Hi people, I'm new here, but I'm a long time GP2 fan and player.

I have a question about the player's car grip. I do now that we can set the player's car grip factor in GP2 Edit, from 100-1000 and the orgina is 198. I used to change this when I start a new season on a given carset (even the original) with a driver whose grip is other then 16134 (in a car with 790 bhp) or equivalent (like Schumacher's 16384 in a 765bhp Benetton in original carset), which would be the fastest car in the game. I always have my carsets with the fastest driver in this proportion, to avoid a faster car than the original in the game.

I do know that increasing the number in players car grip factor decrease my grip in the game, i've done when i decided do emulate Hakkinen carrear, beggining in 1991. I did this until de 99 season, the last one I raced before I quit playing. And it worked pretty good. It was hard for me to qualify better than 20th position in 1991 (with a higher value than 198) and I only started fighting for wins in 1997, when the car was better an i set the grip factor closer to 198, always following what is in my carset.

The problem is: I forgot how I used to measure this. For exmple: If I increase 10 points (208) the players car would lose 0.4% of its grip. I remember i created something like that, by testing in the game, but I completely forgot it.

Anyone now exactly how it works?

Thank you.

Understanding the true answer to a question like this would require reverse-engineering the code that makes the physics work and I don't think any of us are smart enough to do so. (at least I know I am not).

Most of the measurements for this kind of thing would be "empirical" - in other words "try it and see what happens" kind of thing.

Welcome to the forum!
I play around with this value too. I don't have exact numbers, but raising the players grip with 20 points will slow you down with approximately 0,3 second.
But like samsetiOI said, just try.
Cheers!
The winner ain't the one with the fastest car, it's the one who refuses to lose.

DESIFRANDO O GRIP FACTOR 198
A DISTRIBUIÇÃO DE PONTOS EM 1994:
1 - 10
2 - 6
3 - 4
4 - 3
5 - 2
6 - 1

ERAM 26 PONTOS DISTRIBUÍDOS PARA 6 POSIÇÕES, ONDE CADA EQUIPE TINHA 2 CHANCES COM DOIS CARROS ALINHADOS NO GRID.
ENTÃO O CALCULO PRA CHEGAR A ESTA ESTE VALOR DE 198 NADA MAIS SERIA QUE:
6/26 * 2 * 429 = 198. JÁ É DE CONHECIMENTO DE TODOS 429 É O FATOR PRA CÁLCULO NO GPEDIT

NA ATUAL CONFIGURAÇÃO DA F1 2020, TEMOS O SEGUINTE MODELO DE PONTUAÇÃO:
1-25
2-18
3-15
4-12
5-10
6-8
7-6
8-4
9-2
10-1
VOLTA MAIS RAPIDA-1
ENTAO O GRIP FACTOR SERIA 10/102 * 2 *429 = +-84.

Sorry, but that has nothing to do with the "human grip". And please, post in English.

That`s truly an intresting question. Having different bhp and grip values per selected team would be amazing, I agree.

I also only increased the values like described above or used Roberto`s slot editor to make the AI-controlled cars faster on the tracks where I was too fast.

So, if I set a value below 198, in theory should I get more and more grip? I don't know if I set AI grip too high, but in the slow turn even the slowest cars go TOO MUCH faster than me. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) .

Example: car power is 760/770 for my car and the best CCs.
Ai grip of the best CC driver is around 16200, worst around 15050. Grip range 500.
Result: top speed similar, I have literally no traction.
The car doesn't accelerate. Changing gears ratio is useless, using F7 only make thing worse (too much understeer). Where am I doing bad? ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

And in playing F1GP1 I had to increase AI grip because I was too fast... :-k

By decreasing that value you indeed get more grip. The ccs will also get a slight improvement, but it is very small compared to the player. The default setup for GP2 is very bad, especially for the higher levels, so maybe that's the problem you are facing.

So, I increase CCs grip TOO. Uhm...Maybe the only way is to decrease AI drivers' grip. That's absurd to be taken by a Maki -_-

Yes, the setup is awful, and if you follow the instructions in the manual you don't solve too much. Playing with keyboard obviously doesn't help (same problem of GPlegends). I feel like Prost in 1991

Don't worry about the increase in CCs grip. It is barely noticeable. You may make a test with players grip set to zero instead of 198 to feel how that setting works.

Surely I will. Thanks.
