Re: Happy new year
Happy new year, racetrack people! I seem to exist in a void filled with a few houses and miles and miles of smoke. So, yeah, I guess the fireworks in the city were exceptionally spectacular this year.

There are four lights aka Merry Christmas
I sincerely hope everyone on board is able to enjoy these holidays in whatever way you prefer, whether that's in culinary retreat with family or friends, enjoying the open roads not frequented by people who are to full and tired to drive a car or, I don't know, roaming thorugh Skyrim looking for can...

Re: F1 season 2012
What's also interesting, though, is that we've had a number of these announcements even before Christmas now. Compared to seasons where midfield-backmarker teams would take until February or March of the following year to confirm who was actually driving for them, after X, Y and Z had tested the new...

Re: F1 season 2012
The driver market shenanigans this fall are impressive. Though the top four teams from this year appear locked in, half the grid might change at least one driver for next year, we have at least two teams confirmed now that are replacing both drivers. I wouldn't have expected it to happen on this sca...

Re: GP2 Racing World - Japanese GP - Race Results!
The fun thing is I actually did have trouble with going into turn 2 at Suzuka in these games for some time, so this was a fitting coincidence.

Re: What is causing 'Illegal Read' problem?
In the hope that I don't end up sounding as enigmatic as that wonderful screenshot: "Illegal read" points to memory corruption. Usually, the reason for that is either that a program managed to write data into a memory address it wasn't supposed to use, and therefore can't read the data back from th...

Re: India track does not work correct!
This sounds to me as if the texture files are not in the right place, because then you see trackside objects without textures and that's kind of a disorienting, monochrome mess of shapes... If you're manually installing a track, you need to make sure any .jam files the track comes with are placed in...

Re: Dan Wheldon
This is yet another tragic reminder of how dangerous our favourite sport can be. And yet the first thing that I was thinking about when I watched recorded footage of the crash was: This could yet have turned out worse than it did. There will, of course, be many factors that will be analysed and disc...

Re: Missing topic: What are you listening right now?
Since the user statistic suggests this is my most active topic anyway, I'll dig this out to mention that I'm enjoying listening to Anathema's current EP, titled 'Falling Deeper'. Just the kind of music that fits in with winter cold creeping into the days.

Re: DJS is not alone ... c@rt-man is back too !!!
Yeah, IndyCar in the "nineties" was very interesting and fun to watch. Also, this was before the "Europeans don't care for American racing" explanation that mainstream sports channels would use so they would not carry IndyCar and NASCAR anymore - so "dinner and then US racing" became a bit of a fami...

Re: VDMSound installation problem
I've read about this before, that error coming up apparently has something to do with Windows Installer getting stuck and for whatever reason thinking there still is an update in progress which hasn't finished yet. A common suggestion to try and fix this involves making a change to the registry, so ...

Re: Yeongam, Korea Track?
Like with playing the official F1 game last year, I'm impressed by how this circuit turned out. It's interesting to have this shift from the slow corners and long straights to that second half of the lap where one corner continuously flows into the next one and you really need to figure out how to p...

Re: GP2Lap/No Sound/Speedy Game
Welcome! If the game is running too fast with the emulation inside DosBox, you can use Strg+F11 to slow down the cycles of the (emulated) CPU, or Strg+F12 to speed up again if pressing that a number of times makes things too slow, then. It should say so in the welcome message, as well, as DosBox sta...

Re: Trackconverter crashes (Convert JAD to JAM)
It should not be a problem to convert the files on another computer and then just transfer them over via stick etc. That'd at least be a workaround.
