Re: About carshape and CART mod

It's generally possible to do that. You can open any GP2 carshape in the Carshape editor , then export the shape to the game (via the button with the blue arrow pointing at the GP2 logo). The textures from the carset will show up on that shape, then - so it's not like, say, GP4, where using a differ...

Re: Wet Track Mod - how to work?

Actually, the whole how-to for getting D-Fend, DosBox and GP2 to work together is available in German as well, so if English is difficult, that alternative is available, too, right here.

Re: Fuzzy screen - HELP, oh, and hello once again!

That's good news. It's a bit of a trial-and-error with the emulator settings these days, kind of like just getting the right water temperature in these nightmare hotel showers in some places. But gamers are kind of resilient when it comes to still being able to enjoy the things they've had for so mu...

Re: Problem with Dos Box

First of all, a belated hello and welcome! It's a bit difficult to troubleshoot this from afar. But usually, any kind of "file not found" exception means one of three things: a) The file is not at the path specified b) The path to the file isn't spelled absolutely correctly c) The file is at the pat...

I haven't seen onboard footage of the full track from this year's event, but you might enjoy some pieces of the Pikes Peak 2012 madness. It appears they laid down tarmac everywhere and I think we all understand motor racing well enough to understand that means people will have been going faster: htt...

Re: Fuzzy screen - HELP, oh, and hello once again!

If the sound is skipping, a bit of toying around with DosBox's configuration file might be able to solve that. That is, if there were a fixed number of CPU cycles specified in there, because if that's a number too high for your PC's CPU to handle, that could slow down the emulation and cause the sou...

Re: GP2 a Glide Based game?

It was just around the time when video cards with 3d APIs came up, but GP2 as is doesn't appear as if it was coded to support it. It's always been pixelly software rendering, all the way.

Ubisoft's F1 Racing, which unless I misremember also came out in 1996, had 3dfx/glide support.

Re: GP2Edit - Car bitmaps in crazy colours?

Yes, this was caused by saving in another .bmp format than 256 colors.

Even with Pbrush / Paint, though, you do have to manually select a 256-color bitmap in the "Save As..." dialog, though.

Re: "Milwaukee Mile" by Sergio Leonardi

Oh, this kind of mayhem could happen with Papyrus' old IndyCar and NASCAR titles, too. You just needed a car or two that crashed into the outside wall hard enough to be damaged so that the suspension collapsed or the engine died. I have enough memories of coming out of Turn 1 / 2 at Michigan Supersp...

Re: GP2 1991 Season MOD - By ngendro

Once again, the term "abandonware" doesn't define any kind of legal status. It's a word that's been invented to describe software that's no longer actively supported by the developer, software that's no longer being sold in stores etc because it's been years since the original release, and operating...

Re: AI problems in original gp2 montreal

Some tracks appear not to work properly when used in a track slot that's not the one they were intended for. It could be interesting to look at how and where they are crashing. If it's entering the pits or trying to get thorugh the corner before pit lane entry, you may want to look at this discussio...

Okay, that calms me down even further. :) I, too, was surprised the Sunday at Silverstone stayed as dry as it did. However, as we could see on Saturday, it usually gets so serious that the session is just red-flagged because there's not much in the way of racing these kinds of cars with standing wat...

From the unofficial category of "more or less impressively nuts racing still exists in modern times", I'd like to refer you to the two presentations here , showing how the most recent VLN race's winner got decided. If you're somewhat familiar with the Nordschleife, watch closely where and how much t...

Re: F1 season 2012

Compared to musicians actually on top of Buckingham Palace, the thought of Grand Prix cars speeding by in in some distance doesn't sound so outrageously bizarre anymore. However, there was some noise being made years ago about such a "scenic route" kind of race in Rome. And now 'possibly to be stage...
