Re: freeDOS
Hopefully you get lucky with it 8) . I was happy with ECE when I used windows but after I switched to Linux I found that ECE was discontinued and completely removed from all the repos. I found the source code for the Linux version but its way above my competency level to compile it. I checked your v...

Re: freeDOS
Nice, I'd love to see how it compares with dosbox emulation. It might be a reverse placebo but dosbox never felt 100% right to me. I could be totally wrong though. Some people seem to be reporting that QEMU and VirtualBox VM's have soundblaster emulation which is compatible with FreeDOS. Knowing now...

freeDOS
Did anyone ever try FreeDOS for gp2? Its a full operating system not emulation like dosbox. I wouldn't mind trying it if I can figure it out

Re: changing the CC car setups in the track file (wing, gears and brake bias)
I haven't but I want to, do you know how to do it?
Your post gave me an idea to become an AI 'race engineer', choosing a driver to engineer and see if I can make the AI win the championship. I dont know how detailed the AI setups are though, it might not be practical

Re: 'Mod pack' Etiquette
I never created anything but for what its worth it doesn't bother me whatsoever. I know that might be controversial but I really don't care. What does bother me is that discorse is a closed platform that's not accessible for the general public. So whatever information or mod packs gets posted there ...

Re: dosbox ece is dead
I got the latest windows version working in wine, it seems to run OK, proper speed as expected. Maybe the PO is a bit high, its floating between 50-70% and sometimes going up to 90 in certain scenarios. Its not a perfect solution but at least it works. I found the source code for the Linux version b...

Re: dosbox ece is dead
I tried dosbox X, the timing is off and somehow the physics feel strange For example at Monza my stopwatch showed +10 seconds to the game time, I compared it to Ted Meat at Monza who used ECE and the stopwatch was -6 seconds to game time Likewise Monaco I was +10 to game time, ted meat (I think he u...

Re: dosbox ece is dead
I'd be more than happy to keep using it, but I only know how to install on Linux through the terminal and no repos have ece from what I know. I don't have a windows partition, I can try dosbox ece through wine though

gp3 & gp3-2000 on Linux
I recently installed gp3 and gp3-2000 on Linux, both run nice in wine 10 in fact even better than my old windows system. Not 1 crash to desktop during actual gameplay. So if anyone is using Linux or thinking about using it don't hesitate to get gp3 running because it runs really nicely and honestly ...

dosbox ece is dead
Judging by the vogons forums it appears dosbox ece has gone the way of the dodo. Annoyingly its been deleted off github and the developers site. This is quite irritating as it was easily my favorite variant. What other versions do people recommend? My main criteria is that the Sim runs at normal spe...

Re: direct drive wheel
Thanks, so that's 1 vote for Logitech. Do you run GP3/GP4 as well? Appreciate any further input I should clarify: obviously gp2 does not have force feedback. My desire to get a direct drive wheel is for iracing, however I don't currently have a wheel and for me its a must to experience gpx with a wh...

Re: dosbox ece or dosbox svn daum..
Sounds to me that ICR2 is fully randomising the seed at the commencement of each session, which would explain why you get completely different events each time. The gpx approach kind of works for me anyway because I always tended to run the Sim like Ted Meat, with no restarts and accepting the cours...

Re: dosbox ece or dosbox svn daum..
No - I never really continued searching very hard. Gp2 runs so good for me on Dosbox ECE that I am able to get good FPS performance with all graphics on. I had worse FPS performance and the time-flow issue with other options. Regarding the random seed - I wonder if there is a way to do something li...
