Re: GP2RW pool

To paraphrase a certain Mr. Zappa, this game just smells funny. I'm in. :)

Re: How To Play Alonso 2017 in Grand Prix 2

This post is actually how I found out about this happening at all... and this is the kind of thinking from a driver that I prefer, rather than "I've won the championship once, I'm done." :)

Re: Default car setup for "Quick Race"?

From what I've tried, it appears to load whichever setup you specify under "driving options" in the menu, where you can specify a setup, or load a setup file before going to track. The standard appears to be front wing at 10, rear wing at 12 and so on. Individual settings for each country / track (B...

Much better than that dark pit between nose and front wing in the original. Good job, Michael82!

Re: gp2edit not exporting properly

You could still check if running gp2edit as administrator changes anything – if you're using a restricted account, you might not be able to get to certain files / directories even if they're not marked "read only".

If that does nothing, I'm afraid I can't say what might be causing these problems.

Re: Issues installing the game

First of all, welcome aboard, Slib! An unmodified version of the game will always want you to have the CD in the drive anyway, even if you choose "optimum installation" (the 58 MB option). If you just copied all the files to hard drive and haven't mounted the CD ROM, even running GP2.EXE straight up...

Re: GP2Edit - Car bitmaps in crazy colours?

For future reference, I'll just add a quick checklist here for people who want to pursue the IrfanView option, instead of using the trusted, old XP version of Paint to edit. A palette file with the correct settings can be imported into a new picture, once you've created one using an existing image t...

Re: GP2 on Windows 8?

I've got it to work with the original 0.74 version so that's an option, as well. It even does the music and sound again, which I could never coax out of the XP machine I used to play the game for years. So GP2 should be no hindrance if people want to upgrade their system to an OS that will be patche...

Re: How do i get realistic Grip Levels

It should be hard to come up with a formula. As far as I remember, the grip factor for the computer cars is not defined by a carset, but specified in the .dat file for a track (which could be changed with the Track Editor). This would mean that all computer cars have the same grip level (adjustment)...

Re: Old Classic Games

1990s flashback without meaning GP2 at all: Instead of getting people to laugh at me asking for their candy, I spent a bit of Halloween immersed back in this.

Still a thrill to play. (Not so much of a thrill to find the original CD to re-install it.)

Re: GP2 Fans Carset 2011 - F1 cars

Nice to see this out in the open. I didn't even have the source files for the design I submitted anymore, so when we do another carset, I'll have to reach for some fresh inspiration. :)

Re: A new track ?

Phoenix was the first track I remember doing a pole position in F1GP way back when, because the many 90-degree turns made the track easier to learn. Kids, those days. :)

Re: performance differences between circuits for the player

If your results basically everywhere else are good, I would guess your driving is not really an issue. So I would immediately look for gains with the setup. Maybe you are doing something different than with other tracks, which does not work very well on these tracks. Or you could do something differ...

Re: Gp2 Dream

The realism options, as far as I remember, refer to all kinds of technical defects the car could suffer. Crash damage can be disabled by default, if you're not playing on the highest difficulty level – that's what roland is referring to. So if you're playing on one of the lower levels, you might h...

Re: Question about qualifications

Welcome, I'm not aware of any tools or modifications that would cause this to happen. The only thing you could achieve is only having 26 cars contest a race weekend by disabling the two cars you can disable with GP2Edit. So theoretically, all drivers would race, then. Another possibility would be to...
