Description	: The iconic Laguna Seca renewed for Grand Prix 2! This circuit means a lot of challenge, mainly in the uphill/downhill blind Cork Screw turn. Since 1957 Laguna Seca is part of Western U.S.A. motorsports history, hosting several races of USRRC, Can-Am, SportsCars, Indycars and international motorcycle races. Built as a 3,058 meters (1.9 mile) circuit, with very fast turns and the Cork Screw, Laguna Seca was remodeled in early 1988 for the first MotoGP (500cc World Championship) race in U.S.A. since 1965. Four new turns were created, the Andretti Hairpin and the sequence of three sweeping 90-degree turns (two for right, one for left), and other minor changes (the angle of the turn before Rahal Straight was sharpened), making a 3,563 circuit (2.21 miles). In 1996 another change, increasing the lenght to the current 3,609 meters (2.24 miles) in the last two turns, creating a longer pit entrance straight and more run-off area in the last turn, something important for motorcycle races. In that same 1996 year, Laguna Seca was the perfect stage for a perfect manouver: "The Pass", when Alessandro Zanardi passed Bryan Herta in the Cork Screw during the last lap of the Indycar race. Not only great histories Laguna Seca is made: the Cork Screw saw a tragedy in 1999, when the best Uruguayan driver of all times, Gonzalo Rodriguez, lost his life when collided with a billboard behind the Cork Screw's run-off area during practice for that year's Indycar race. After 2004, Laguna Seca was scrapped down from the ChampCar schedule, replaced for a street race in the near city of San Jose, California. After three years Laguna Seca pretended to be back to ChampCar calendar, but the series folded when merged with IRL Indycar in early 2008, and that unified series go ahead competing in another Northern Californian circuit: Sonoma Raceway. Meanwhile, the sportscars and motorcycle international events became the centerpiece of Laguna Seca from 2005 to 2018, when Indycars were far away from Monterey. Back to MotoGP schedule in 2005, Laguna Seca once again saw another historical race, the duel between Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner in 2008. After 2013 the circuit was scrapped down from MotoGP calendar, and Superbikes were once again back to Monterey's circuit. In 2019, after a 15 year hiatus, Laguna Seca is back to Indycar calendar, hosting the season finale and a victory of Bryan Herta's son: Colton Herta, getting a triumph in the same circuit his father won (1998 and 1999). Now Herta family is part of Laguna Seca history, with three Indycar victories overall. Some other champions are part of the circuit history, like Bobby Rahal, four time Indycar winner in Laguna Seca (straight from 1984 to 1987, all in the old short and fast circuit!) and Wayne Rainey, three time MotoGP/500cc winner in Laguna Seca (straight from 1989 to 1991). Both has sectors of the track named after they: Rahal Straight (that before the Cork Screw) and Rainey Turn (the left-hander long sweep after the Cork Screw).
