Description	: The historical, fast, challenging and exciting TT Circuit Assen has a great version for GP2. A lot of improvements was made by Antonio since 2015 using Leo's 1999 Assen, including a accurated track layout, cc-line, kerbs, new scenary, objects (based on GP3 Assen version and GP500 game), and some others improvements. This GP2 version is about the 6.0 kms 1983-2001 Assen track layout. The "new" Assen, with 4.5 kms, was not still made for GP2. Assen is the "Cathedral" of motorcycle racing, hosting a MotoGP event since the inaugural season in 1949, and some more Dutch TT races since 1925. Formely a public roads circuit since 1925, in 1955 it was revamped in order to create a real racing circuit, with 7.0 kms, and much of the current circuit's turns. In 1983 Assen was shortened to 6.0 kms, and this is the track layout of this GP2 circuit. In 2006 the track was shortened again, to the current 4.5 kms. Since that times, Assen hosted some car racing, like ChampCar, Superleague Formula, and others European series.

Other Works	: Leo: Zandvoort 1999. Antonio: I stopped to count my previous works, from 2001 to now, maybe some dozens of GP2 tracks around the world... :)
Thanks to	: Geoff Crammond for making Grand Prix 2.
		  Andreas Schulz for grandprix2.de
		  Paul Hoad for Track Editor
		  Tim de Klein for several GP2 tracks
		  Leo Brevoort for 1999 Assen track

* Installation *
1.
(if you already have new tracks on the game jump to STEP 2):
patch the game with a util that obliges the game to read the tracks
from the harddisk. These utils are gp2nocd or trakonhd.
Search for one of them on the net and install it. This program will
create a new directory called "circuits": you have to copy there
ALL the 16 track files (F1ct01, F1ct02...........F1ct16)

2.
Extract all JAD files to "assen" paste on your GAMEJAMS directory.

3.
Convert the JAD files to JAM files using Convert.exe.

4.
Place TT Circuit Assen_Netherlands_1998.dat file in the circuits directory. It runs the best in slots 07 and 15, others slots was not tested.

6.
Start Gp2 and drive...........

Be sure to keep a copy of all the track files from gp2\Circuits in a

* Track Information *
The Assen track is the only track that has hosted a motorcycle Grand Prix every year since the start of the World Championship in 1949. In the late 90's, the track was mainly used for motorcycle events, but also some national car series visited the track. Assen is the fastest and one the
most demanding tracks on the Moto GP calendar!

Track length: 6.049km, TT-circuit
              3.913km, National circuit (under construction)

The first Assen TT (motorcycle event) was held in 1925, on a 28.4 km track over public roads near Assen. One year later the track was shortened to 16.5 km, and stayed unchanged until 1954. Still the track consisted mainly of public roads. In 1955 a permanent track was established. It had a length of 7.7 km and the present layout is still based on that track. Some changes took place over the years though. In 1976 the high-speed Knie-bocht (the final corner of the track) was replaced by the Geert Timmer (or GT, for short) bocht, that is still in place today. In 1981 the Ruskenhoek was changed, to increase safety. In 1984 the Bedeldijk section disappeared, shortening the north loop and the whole track by some 1.5 km. The last major update took place in 1990, when the track width was increased from +/- 7 to +/- 10 meter.

At the end of 2005 season, the track layout was revised. During the 2005-06 winter, the north loop of the track was shortened by 1 km. Three years
before, the Veenslang was changed, to create more space in the paddock. Finally some minimal changes was made to De Bult. The final length of the track was reduced to 4.545 km.
With these alterations, most bankings disappeared. In the 90's track layout all corners was (slightly) banked, but Leo did not include it in his track. (For the well known reasons: cc-gfx and bumps).

Hot lap (text written by Leo Brevoort in 1999):
Right after the start is a fast chicane called S-bocht, where the pit exit joins the track. A short straight leads to the first corner, a 2nd gear right hander, called the Haarbocht. This was the north loop of the track, which was not a part of the national circuit. Accelerate to 6th gear and then break hard for Madijk, a 3rd gear right hander. Take a wide line, because it is significantly faster! Then a short 'straight' (none of the straights at Assen is actually 'straight') to the very narrow 1st gear righthander Ossebroeken. You can overtake here, but it's easy to get it all wrong! Another short straight leads to the Strubben hairpin. Watch out for the kink leading to the hairpin, you'll have to shift back to 4th. Strubben itself is a tight 180 degree hairpin. Now accelerate hard to the Veenslang, a fast right-left combination, and up to the Ruskenhoek straight. This is the fastest part of the track. You have to break for the 1st gear right hander Stekkenwal, which is also the best place to overtake. After Stekkenwal a left-right combination leads to De Bult, a 1st gear left hander. Then a short straight to Mandeveen, another 1st gear corner, this time a right hander. Next is Duikersloot, 3rd gear right hander, which is very important, because it is followed by a long full throttle section. Meeuwenmeer is a kink to the right, which is flat out, and then you're on the Hoge Heide straight. Next is maybe the most exciting corner of the track: Ramshoek. It's a blind 6th gear left hander; get it right and you can position your car for the final overtaking spot of the track: the GT (Geert Timmer) corner. Just before this chicane is the pit entrance. The GT corner itself is a 1st gear right-left-right chicane, with the final right opening up into the start/finish straight. Some races are won with daring attempts in the GT corner, but most all-or-nothing manoeuvres end in the gravel trap!
The National circuit cuted off the north loop. There was a tight hairpin just after the pit exit, which joins the TT circuit at the exit of the Strubben hairpin. Remember Assen is a motorcycle racetrack, so the track was very narrow, and actually there was no kerbstones in the corners. You have to drive very accurately, and plan overtaking manoeuvres carefully!
Enjoy racing on this track!
PS: This GP2 track includes kerbs. Leo's 1999 Assen hadn't kerbs.
