Description : The "Autdromo Internacional de San Carlos" is the most important permanent motor racing circuit in Venezuela, and one of the fastest racing tracks in Latin America.
Built in 1970 in a countryside city, it hosted important international racing series in the 1970's, like three MotoGP races, a motorcycle Formula 750 race and a non-championship European Formula Two race. After the global Oil Crisis in 1973, Venezuela enjoyed its best economic days, since that is a strong Oil producer country, and increased Oil prices quickly gave to Venezuela so much income, making posible come true some dreams like a MotoGP annual race during the same years of Venezuelan hero Johnny Cecotto's success on motorcycling. After a decrease in international Oil prices in 1980's, a long period of slow decadence hit the country and Venezuela faded from international motor racing scene. When the populist left-wing President Hugo Chvez ruled the country from 1999 to 2013, Venezuela was back again to motor racing, with a lot of Venezuelan drivers on racing series across the World, sponsored by the State-owned Oil company, PDVSA ("Petroleos de Venezuela S.A."). From that 2000's generation of Venezuelan drivers came Pastor Maldonado, the only one Venezuelan to won a Formula One race, the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix. Despite the State investment on his national drivers, the Venezuelan racing circuits hasn't been the destination of the same investments on that heyday of President Chvez, and despite to be a private-owned circuit, San Carlos track became so old-styled, out of modern standards. After Chvez's death in 2013, a mismanagement of the economy by the follow government and the decrease in international Oil prices from 2014 onwards, Venezuela is facing a serious humanitarian crisis in the late 2010's, with three millions of Venezuelans lefting the country since than. PDVSA's sponsorship for national drivers was over in late 2015, and even San Carlos circuit was put on sale in 2016, amidst a hyperinflation crisis in Venezuela which brings shortage, starvation and high levels of poverty everywhere.
Talking about the GP2 track: Since much time I'm a admirer of San Carlos circuit, a very fast circuit, with 12 turns, flat and full-throttle in some of that! A idea to create a track in Venezuela for GP2 was so old, back since the 90's, since I'm also an admirer of that neighbor people. I did all the work on this San Carlos GP2 track, choosing to create two scenary versions: 1979 track, resembling the Moto GP days when San Carlos circuit had a simple looking; and 2012 track, with more scenary, like two "Dunlop-bridge-style" on the midfield, some residential apartments just beside the last turn, and a lot of modern Venezuelan adverts. I chose to keep the "long" 4.135 kms circuit layout in 2012 version, despite the permanent use of a shorter 3.000 kms circuit layout since many years. Also I chose to improve the 2012 version looking inserting more guard-rails, walls, gravels and Venezuelan colors (yellow, blue and red) on kerbs and tire barriers despite its non-use in real-life track. I chose 2012 for a recent San Carlos track version because that was the year of Maldonado's victory on Formula One.

Other Works : I stopped to count my previous works, from 2001 to now, maybe some dozens of GP2 tracks around the world... :)

Known Bugs : Very few bugs

* Installation *
1.
(if you already have new tracks on the game jump to STEP 2):
patch the game with a util that obliges the game to read the tracks
from the harddisk. These utils are gp2nocd or trakonhd.
Search for one of them on the net and install it. This program will
create a new directory called "circuits": you have to copy there
ALL the 16 track files (F1ct01, F1ct02...........F1ct16)

2.
Place the 'scarlos' directory from the ZIP file into the Gp2 'gamejams' directory.

3.
Place San Carlos_Venezuela_1979.dat or San Carlos_Venezuela_2012.dat file in the circuits directory. It runs the best in
slots 01, 02 and 05. Others slots was not tested.

4.
Start Gp2 and drive...........

2019, Antonio Pessoa - Brazil (The true free and democratic Brazil, not the ficticious far-rightist Brazil believed by the militarist and populist crook Bolsonaro, where can turn the next Venezuela in the future... the slow decadence is hitting us, we're fading from international motor racing scene...)
