Alpentraum Ring

Many people haven't heard a word about Grand Prix 2. Other have played, and some are extremely fanatic. And of those, most think it doesn't live anymore. Wrong. I'm the last idiot who still makes tracks for this old game.

Each racing lover has ever heard about this race. Everybody knows that the mysterious Alpentraum Masters is extremely dangerous, the track is undrivenable. The funny thing is that nobody seems to know who, when, why, neither where... even those who have probably raced it. When they're asked about it, they say they haven't been invited yet, and they know the same as journalists.

The few facts that seemreal are that the greatesr car drivers take identic cars and race 38 laps in a 7 km nightmarish course. The event occurs about each five years, and the drivers race it only once in their lifetime. Rumors say that Gilles Villeneuve, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, and even Juan Manuel Fangio have won it. "The Sun" has published once a list of the winners, but it slipped that Senna won it in 1996 and Gilles in 1983. "Bild" has some pictures of the track, although a farmer who lives near that place said he has never seen a single car going over 30 km/h there.

The weirdest thing is that each country denies the existence of the raceway in their territory. It is very probable that it is located in the Alps, because of the snow (if the race is actually held in July) and has very steep slopes. Switzerland has forbidden racing since the 1960s, and suggests that it may be located in Austria. Austrians think that Alpentraum is in Germany, because they are so crazy and mysterious. The German government denies the idea because their tracks fulfill the highest safety regulations this track would have been closed centuries ago. They have stated that a Frenchman is the organizer of the event. France believes that it is located in Italy. Incredibly, a magazine intented to prove that it is located in the United States. They say that the length is 6,9723 km, very inaccurate for the decimal system, but exactly 4 1/3 miles, and of course, only the Americans are so stupid to make this so. Geoerge W said in an official press confewrence that the name of the track is in Russian (...) and "the American patriots use halfs, quarters, eights and so on, because we like to split things in two, unlike Europeans that split everything in ten tiny parts, just like their computers (...)"

A fewe racers are very young and newbies when compared with their rivals. They are chosen by its driving abillity, showed in karts, promotional formulas, or even virtual racing... just like you.

As gp2 is dying, I wanted to do the last fictrack. I tried to make it as near to the limits as possible (not "the longest one", it's Matti, in my Recuerdos pack): height changes, banking, bumping, scenery, textures, television cameras...

About the cameras: I tried to put as many as I could. I tried to do a "bullet time" camera but I didn't take enough time. The record of most cameras (27) is held by three gp2 legends, Ultima-Track, Clermont-Ferrand and Bremgarten. The runner-up, with 26, is the not very known Tizi Park, by Salfo. Martijn couln'd remain back; Stuw Lake and Tunnel-Track have both 25.

Good luck!

Make anything with these files, but naming us, and for free.

If your computer explodes, or if your car is destroyed in the Vertical Chicane or somewhere else, don't blame me, it was YOUR fault. This track and me aren't Microprose products.
